Ten Beach Reads to Grab This Summer

Posted June 18, 2018 by Jana in Top Ten Tuesday / 53 Comments

Today’s topic is beach reads! Or you could have chosen to feature your summer TBR list. I tend to not do a summer TBR because I like to give myself the opportunity to make my reading choices in the moment rather than sticking to a schedule this time of year. So I chose beach reads!

When I hear “beach read” my mind immediately jumps to light and fun contemporary romances that I can read a little at a time or in one big binge session. I absolutely love these kinds of books because they give me warm fuzzies and goofy smiles. I’ve selected some older and newer releases, along with new adult/adult titles and YA titles. All of them are wonderful, and books I wholeheartedly recommend.

New Adult/Adult

On the Island by Tracey Garvis-Graves
Roman Crazy by Alice Clayton & Nina Bocci
I Temporarily Do by Ellie Cahill
The Hating Game by Sally Thorne
Roomies by Christina Lauren

Young Adult

From What I Remember… by Stacy Kramer & Valerie Thomas
Golden by Jessi Kirby
The Summer I Became a Nerd by Leah Rae Miller
Starry Eyes by Jenn Bennett
The Summer My Life Began by Shannon Greenland

Which beach reads would you recommend I try?
And if you chose to do your summer TBR for today’s topic,
which books are you hoping to read this summer?

Oh wow, what a score you got from Book Outlet! lol. It’s soooooo sweet, so if you love contemporary I have a feeling you’re going to love it. Starry Eyes was also wonderful, and I hope you get to it soon!

Oh, this list was all beach reads I loved and recommend to anyone, so I’ve read both of them and they’re amazing! Glad you loved them too!

  1. I loved The Hating Game! It’s such a perfect summer read. I ended up doing a summer tbr list, and I included On the Island – this summer is going to be the summer I FINALLY read it. I hope to read Starry Eyes this summer too – I loved Alex, Approximately.

Oh my goodness, I am so excited you’re going to read On the Island this summer! It’s still one of my favorite books, and I read it waaaay back when it was self-published. I hope you love it, too! I loved Starry Eyes even more than Alex, Approximately, so I hope you get to it soon!

I’d love to do a re-read as well! I think I read it about 7 years ago, back when it was a self-published novel. It’s definitely been way too long!

I need to read more Christina Lauren. Roomies was my first of her, and it was tons of fun.

Thank you! The re-design went live last week, and I’m in love with it!

  2. I’m so excited to do my first Top Ten Tuesday on my blog! I’m not really big on contemporary books but I have a lot of those on my TBR that’s why I was so excited to do this prompt. Have an awesome beach reading season!

I just finished The Hating Game and loved it! I’ve heard great things about On the Island, but haven’t gotten around to it yet. Although I liked the author’s Heart-Shaped Hack.

  4. So happy that I found your blog and really like this idea of Top Ten Tuesday posts :) I want to step up my book blogging game and this is a great step by joining.

  5. Starry Eyes for the win! You can’t go wrong with a Jenn Bennett book. She’s the best! The Hating Game was pretty great too. I hope to read Roman Crazy, Roomies, and The Summer I Became a Nerd one of these days. They all have great reviews and look like something I would enjoy.

  6. Jane, I decided to do a summer TBR list, as I am taking part in the 10 Books of Summer reading challenge. Some of the books I am hoping to read this summer includes: The House on the Strand by Daphne du Maurier, The Return of the Prodigal Son by Henri J. M. Nouwen, Anne Boleyn, A King’s Obsession by Alison Weir and Sourcery by Terry Pratchett. Happy summer reading! :-)
