Welcome to another TTT! And Happy New Year! I hope you had a lovely holiday season and the best New Year’s Eve. I’m wishing you the absolute best 2024, filled with love, success, tons of amazing books, and lots of cozy places to read them in. I am so glad 2023 is over. It was truly one of the hardest years of my life, and I’m looking forward to starting fresh. I did read a lot of great books in 2023, though, so I’m excited to share those and also see which books you loved the most! I’m not counting re-reads and my list is not in any special order because it’s hard enough to pick 10 favorites. You can’t make me rank them, too!

1. The Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn
2. My Phony Valentine by Courtney Walsh
3. First to Fall by Jenny B. Jones
4. The Last Bookshop in London by Madeline Martin
5. In the Weeds by B.K. Borison
6. The Only One Left by Riley Sager
7. Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros
8. Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros
9. Holiday Romance by Catherine Walsh
10. The Christmas Dress by Courtney Cole
What’s your absolute favorite book you read in 2023? If you can’t pick, tell me several!
Do we have any in common? Or do you want to read any of these?

I haven’t read any books by Kate Quinn yet but she’s high on my list. Happy New Year and, as always, thanks for hosting!
I LOVE Kate Quinn! I hope you’re able to read a book of hers soon! Happy New Year to you, too! Thank you for participating in TTT!
I enjoyed The Only One Left. Happy New Year!
It was so so good. I haven’t liked the last few books I read by Riley Sager, but this one gave me all the Lock Every Door vibes, which is my favorite of his books! Happy New Year to you too!
Happy New Year! I still need to read The Last Bookshop in London. Hope you have more great reads this year.
Happy New Year! The Last Bookshop in London has stuck with me for so long now. I keep thinking about it! I hope you’re able to read it soon. Cheers to all the good books in 2024!
Thanks! I hope so, too. You know what they say, “So many books; so little time.”
I loved Last Bookshop in London! 🙌
It was amazing! Madeline wrote some Christmasy bonus content for The Last Bookshop in London, exclusive to my blog, last month! Did you see it? It made me happy. Here’s the link: https://www.thatartsyreadergirl.com/2023/12/the-last-bookshop-in-london-a-christmas-list-by-madeline-martin-author-guest-post/
I didn’t see it…thanks for the link!
You’re welcome! I hope you enjoy the post! I thought it was really sweet.
I do love the In the Weeds cover. Also, I read some of Jenny’s books back in the day and they were always favorites. Now I need to play catchup. Hope you discover some great books in 2024!
I really enjoy all the Lovelight Farms books covers. This was the first book I read by Jenny, and I’m hoping to get to some more this year!
Choosing a favourite is difficult. Getting my list down to ten was hard enough! In fact, I cheated and added a few ‘highly commended’. If pushed, I would say The Seventh Son by Sebastian Barry, a compelling mix of cli-fi and romance.
Cheating is always acceptable with TTT. lol. I know how hard it can be to limit yourself to 10 picks sometimes! I’m going to go look up The Seventh Son!
OOh nice ones! Fourth Wing made my list too! I still need to read Iron Flame though!
Here’s my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
AHHHH. iron Flame was amazing! I was worried it would suffer from second book syndrome, but it didn’t! Both were 5-star reads for me. I hope you enjoy it when you get to it!
My Phony Valentine was one of my favorites too! Happy New Year!!! How are you and your family feeling? Recovered from Covid?
Happy New Year to you too! Wasn’t it just so good? My family and I are plugging along. lol. Still not well. My mom is having the hardest time now and my dad has taken extra time off work. My younger sister is pretty much better, and I’m almost there. I just need to get my energy back and kick the insomnia. Covid really sucks everything out of you! Thank you so much for asking.
Fourth Wing made my list too!
It’s on so many lists today! I love how many of us read and loved a book at the same time. I don’t remember this happening since… maybe Twilight? lol.
I am sorry you all are still not well. My husband had it last year and was really sick for 3 weeks and it took him a while to bounce back. Hoping you all are over it soon.
Thank you. <3 Three weeks is right where we are now, actually, and while my sister seems to be almost better, my parents and I have developed pneumonia as a complication. Hopefully the meds will tackle that and we'll be on our way to recovery soon!
Oh NO!!! Jana! I am so sorry!! Praying you are all better soon.
Thank you so much, Cindy! We can use all the prayers. :)
I don’t think I’ve seen a single person that had a good 2023, here’s to a better 2024! And thank you for continuing to host TTT!
Yes, let’s make 2024 better! Thank you for enjoying TTT!
What a great list! I have Fourth Wing and Iron Flame on my list as well
I think I’m going to be re-reading both of them very soon! SO good!
Last Bookshop in London is on my want-to-read list! My top favorite for 2023 was also historical fiction revolving around WWII, Code Name Edelweiss by Stephanie Landsem.
Code Name Edelweiss is on my list to read this year! I’m so glad to know you loved it!
It is a fantastic book — a little mystery, a little suspense, dripping with historical authenticity, and a great way to learn about some actual history that is largely forgotten these days!
You’ve got me so excited to read it now! Maybe I’ll start it after my current reads. I’ve been reading so much romance lately that a historical fiction sounds like a nice change right about now. :)
Happy New Year! The Last Bookshop in London is on my TBR, so I’m happy to see that it made it to your Top Ten list. I loved the Diamond Eye.
Happy New Year to you too! I hope you’re able to get to The Last Bookshop in London soon because it’s SO good. And if you loved Diamond Eye, too, it sounds like we have similar taste in books. I hope you love it!
I just finished Holiday Romance last night! If I’d finished it in 2023, it would have made my list too. Such a cute and heart-warming read! Fourth Wing is on my TBR. Hoping to get to it asap.
Oh yay, I don’t know anyone else who has read Holiday Romance! It was so adorable. I might need to read it again this Christmas. lol. I hope you LOVE Fourth Wing! I wish I could read it again for the first time!
I’ve got The Last Bookshop in London and Fourth Wing on my list too! They were so good. Wishing you a wonderful 2024 filled with love and happiness, and lots of great books!
Thank you so much!
I also loved In the Weeds, Fourth Wing and Iron Flame. Nice choices. I hope your 2024 reads are just as good as these books.
Thank you! I hope you find some amazing books this year, too!
We have both Fourth Wing and Iron Flame in common! Also, I’ve read another Madeline Martin book, but it’s not on my list.
My TTT: https://laurieisreading.com/2024/01/02/top-ten-tuesday-favorite-and-most-surprising-books-of-2023/
Fourth Wing and Iron Flame are very common “best of 2023” picks and I love it! I read all of Madeline Martin’s historical fiction books this year and The Last Bookshop in London is definitely my favorite one.
I loved Iron Flame and Fourth Wing too. My favorite was Kinfolk by Sean Dietrich.
Oooo, I’m going to look up Kinfolk! Thanks for the recommendation!
These look like great reads! Happy 2024!
Thank you! Happy 2024 to you, too!
I’m currently listening to The Diamond Eye and having such a good time! Happy to see it on your list. I can’t rank my reads either, I have to say. Happy new year, and happy reading for 2024!
That’s how I read The Diamond Eye, too! I loved Saskia Maarleveld’s narration and then went and found all the other books she’s read. lol. Happy New Year to you, too! I hope you love so many books this year!
Happy New Year, Jana 🎆 I haven’t read any the books you’ve listed but I have heard good things about many of them 😊
Thank you, Jessica, happy New Year to you too!
The Rebecca Yarros book have been on so many people’s lists! I’m definitely adding them to my TBR. I hope you have a fantastic 2024!
Oh Fourth Wing and Iron Flame are SOOOOOO good. I haven’t been on this kind of a fangirl journey since ACOTAR and Twilight. LOL. I hope your 2024 is lovely!
That’s a great list of books! We had Fourth Wing in common — it was SO good! Hope you have a great reading year in 2024!
Fourth Wing is living in my head and has been living there for months. lol. SO good. Have you read Iron Flame yet? Ii hope your book choices of 2024 all end up being 5 stars for you!
Happy New Year! The Christmas Dress really sounds like such fun!
Happy New Year to you too! I’m so surprised by how much I loved The Christmas Dress. It was so sweet and heartwarming and everything I want from a Christmas book. Highly recommended. :)
I also really liked Diamond Eye (Quinn is so good!). I’ll check out some of your romance suggestions. Happy New Year!
I LOVE Kate Quinn and I am so excited for her releases this year! Happy New Year to you too!
I’m sorry 2023 was so rough for you! I’m wishing you all the best in 2024. I hope it’s a happier, healthier year for you :)
I also enjoyed THE LAST ONE LEFT this year. If Riley writes it, I read it. This one wasn’t my favorite of his, but I still liked it. It definitely kept me guessing.
Happy TTT!

Thanks so much, Susan! That’s really sweet of you to say. :) I hope 2024 is amazing for you, too.
I’ve fallen a bit behind on Riley Sager’s books after not loving Home Before Dark. Up to that point I really loved everything I wrote. Lock Every Door is my favorite of his, followed by Only One Left. Which one of his is your favorite?
Great list! I loved My Phony Valentine. Such a great story.
Happy New Year!
My Phony Valentine made me so happy! I’m a sucker for fake dating romances. Happy New Year!
The Only One Left made my favorites list as well. Happy new year!
It was so amazing!! Riley Sager can write such a good mystery. Happy new year to you too!
Happy New Year!! Thank you for all your work in hosting this each week! Lots of books I’ll be looking into here. I didn’t get to The Christmas Dress–maybe next year. I really want to read it.
Thank you, Lisa, happy New Year to you too! And thank you for your kind words! I hope you find some books you love. The Christmas Dress was so much more amazing than I expected. It’s everything I love about Christmas books, and I’ll definitely be re-reading it. I hope you’re able to get to it this year!
The Only One Left – such a great twisty story.
It really grabbed me! I haven’t flown through a book that quickly in a long time. SO good!
I’m currently reading Fourth Wing! It got so much better once the dragons showed up LOL.
I can definitely see why all of these would become favorites, but I’m especially thrilled The Christmas Dress made your list! I haven’t actually read it yet but it was a top priority until I realized too late the library didn’t have it — but I was so excited I actually bought a copy and will definitely get to it this year. Also prioritizing your recs for Holiday Romance and First to Fall.
