Welcome to another TTT! Can you believe Halloween is this week?? I sure can’t! This week’s topic is a freebie, and I’ve chosen to think back to when I was a kid and loved the magic of Halloween. I loved coming up with costumes, school parties, and trick-or-treating so much. I still love many aspects of Halloween like atmospheric/spooky reads, candy, pumpkins, black cats, ghosts, and cute kids in costumes, but Halloween is now a cozy night in watching Arsenic and Old Lace under my fall-themed Snoopy blanket with a bag of my favorite candy next to me instead of going out and being a part of the festivities. So here are the Halloween books I loved as a kid, some of which I also loved reading my classes when I taught elementary school.

1. Popcorn by Frank Asch
2. Trick or Treat, Little Critter by Gina Mayer and Mercer Mayer
3. The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything by Linda Williams
4. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown by Charles M. Schulz and Kara McMahon (Adapter)
5. The Berenstain Bears Trick or Treat by Stan Berenstain and Jan Berenstain

6. Clifford’s Halloween by Norman Bridwell
7. Franklin’s Halloween by Paulette Bourgeois
8. Big Pumpkin by Erica Silverman
9. Clifford’s First Halloween by Norman Bridwell (I really loved Clifford!)
10. Sherlock Chick and the Case of the Night Noises by Robert M. Quackenbush (This is not Halloween-themed, but it was spooky for little Jana!)
It was so much fun strolling down memory lane and coming up with this list today. I always feel so nostalgic this time of year!
Did you love any of these as a kid?
I hope you have a happy Halloween!

I don’t think I read any of these, BUT I did love the Berenstain Bear books. They were always favorites and each time I see them I remember that. :)
I loved them too! My parents did not, but only because they’re relatively long stories so story time with me lasted a long time every night before bed and they were tired. lol.
These all look so good. The covers are cute too.
I love a cute cover. :)

So fun! I can’t remember reading any Halloween books as a kid, but I read several of these to my kiddos and the ones that I taught as well. The ones I remember reading are Clifford and Franklin. Have a great week!
I love reading to kids!
Great post idea! I know a few of these either from my own childhood or my children’s but many are new.
I loved The Berenstain Bears when I was little!
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.
Holliday picture books are so adorable.
Great Pumpkin, Little Critter, Franklin, Berenstein Bears, Clifford, Franklin! My kids childhood!! So sweet to see these!
Oh my gosh so many adorable Halloween Kid’s books, I have not read any of these which is a shame! Considering how much I love Halloween it’s strange that I didn’t read many Halloween books when I was a kid! lol.
Halloween picture books are so adorable.
Oh…Clifford and Charlie Brown! I love both of those books. Very fun TTT list. :D
Fun topic! I would probably actually pick some kids’ books that came out after I was an adult that I saw when I was working at the bookstore. Like The Hallo-wiener! lol
What a nostalgic list! I loved many of these as a kid and also enjoyed reading them to my children. Oh, and I love Arsenic and Old Lace.
Happy TTT and Happy Halloween!

I recall reading many of them with my kids when they were little (now both in college!) but have not read #1 and 10, and both look so adorable that i am off to look for them now.
These are great! Did you ever read Mousekin’s Golden House? That was my favorite Halloween-ish book when I was young—I loved it so much that I bought myself a copy as an adult so that I could revisit it!
What a great take on this week’s topic! I read most of these myself when I was little. Always loved Charlie Brown and Clifford. Berenstain Bears were great too. Thanks for that trip down memory lane!
