Top Ten Things I’m Thankful for in 2024

Posted November 25, 2024 by Jana in About Me, Top Ten Tuesday / 12 Comments

Welcome to another TTT! This week is Thanksgiving in the USA, so I thought a thankful freebie would be fun. This year has been hard for me, so I thought it would be therapeutic to set all that aside for a few minutes and reflect on what’s gone right for me and what I’m thankful for.

1. I am thankful for my mom and my sister. They are my biggest cheerleaders, my confidants, and my best friends. My mom and I laugh together, cry together, and are pretty much the same person. She also takes care of me and is always looking out for what I need.

2. I am thankful for all the other people in my life who pull for me. I’ve been getting some very small health answers and going through many medical tests that I hope will lead to larger answers that will improve my quality of life. I’ve found a couple of those rare people in the medical field who actually care and are trying to help me.

3. I am thankful that I get to live in such a beautiful place! Looking for hints that the seasons are changing is one of my favorite things to do, and we have had great seasons this year!

4. I am thankful for animals, whether they are mine, a friend’s, or a stranger’s on Instagram. They never cease to make me smile.

5. I am thankful for books. I love reading and escaping to new worlds and meeting new people. I have always loved historical romance, but I love it even more now. Social media has become a toxic storm, and I love going back to a simpler time of house parties and balls. I also love fantasy, which always provides the most amazing distraction.

6. I am thankful that I don’t have to worry about where my next meal will come from or where I will sleep tonight. I am so fortunate to have the things I really need.

7. I’m thankful for my education.

8. I’m thankful for music, and the ability I have to connect with it on such a deep level.

9. I’m thankful for my talents of creativity and singing.

10. I’m thankful for my Heavenly Father.

What’s the biggest thing you’re thankful for this year?

Happy Thanksgiving this week to all who celebrate!
And if this is a hard time of year for you, I’m sending you hugs!

  1. Sounds like you have lots of fun things to enjoy and amazing people in your life, Jana. I hope 2025 gives you the answers you need to live an amazing life free of these health challenges. :)

  2. What a lovely list. I’m also thankful for many similar things. Number 4 made me smile. Animals are the best whether they are your companion, someone else’s, or just out in the wild.

  3. I think a lot of us have had hard years, there is just so much going on! I can relate to #2, it’s been an on-going process for several years, working with a functional medicine doctor for the last year and a half. I have had quite a few tests as well and am waiting for the results from the final one. I hope you find the answers you need so you can get the healing you need. I also hope that the rest of this year is better than the first part of the year. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

  4. Terrific list. I have a couple of people close to me who are going through the journey that includes getting small health answers on the quest toward larger ones that really help. It’s such a blessing to get a couple of health professionals on your side and to have supportive family members. Wishing you the best of luck for finding answers in the coming year.

  5. I’m sorry you’ve had a hard year. I love that you’re using gratitude as therapy. Counting my blessings always helps to give me perspective too. No matter what, there is always, ALWAYS something to be grateful for :) I’m definitely thankful for my Heavenly Father as well. I know He guides my life, even if I sometimes wonder if he’s sleeping on the job, LOL. I’m also grateful to you for keeping TTT going. It’s one of the things I most enjoy about blogging.

    Happy TTT!

  6. This is a wonderful list! There are so many things to be grateful for. I’ve had some super weird health stuff in the last decade and it’s so draining to keep going to doctors and not getting many answers. I just try to manage things on my own for the most part and hope I find some happiness even on the days where it is tough to get through because of all the weird symptoms.

Books are a wonderful escape from those things for me as well.
