The Ten Most Recent Additions to My Book Collection

Posted January 20, 2025 by Jana in Top Ten Tuesday / 41 Comments

Welcome to another TTT! Christmas was not even a month ago, even though it feels like ages (anyone else feel like this?), so I thought it would be fun to share the ten most recent additions to my bookshelves. Some of these are Christmas gifts, and some are things I bought with money or credit after Christmas! I’m not including review books. I’m excited to see your haul!

The Bridge Kingdom, The Traitor Queen, and The Inadequate Heir by Danielle L. Jensen
I love this series, but had not gotten them for my collection because the covers kept changing and I didn’t like any of them. But they got some beautiful covers when they were bought up and re-released by Del Rey and I immediately added them to my wish Christmas wish list as soon as I saw the announcement. My Secret Santa got me the first one and my mom got me the second two! They’re so sparkly and shiny in person! I just love them.

The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst
This was my favorite read in 2024, and I’m so excited to have the pretty hardback with the purple sprayed edges!

Desert Island Duke by Kate Bateman
I’m not usually one to buy novellas in physical form, but look at how stunning that cover is! I’m also obsessed with this book and am so happy to have it on my shelf so I can stare at it.

Mixed Signals by B.K. Borison
I love this series and am so happy to have another one to add to my collection!

The Ornithologist’s Field Guide to Love by India Holton
Another book from my Secret Santa. I can’t wait to read this one!

One Last Shot by Betty Cayouette
If you couldn’t tell, I tend to reserve my shelf space for books I love and would be happy to re-read, and this was another favorite of 2024!

The Only One Left by Riley Sager
I am obsessed with this mystery. It’s so, so good.

Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros
This one is being delivered to my kindle (the hardback is coming later this afternoon/evening) as this post goes live, and I have been waiting so long for this!! I am so, so excited! Anyone else planning to dive in immediately?

Have you read any of these?
What’s your most recent book acquisition?

  1. Looks like you have nice mix of styles and genres in your newest additions. I’ve heard of The Spellshop, but haven’t read much about it. :)

I hope you enjoy (or enjoyed if you’re a faster reader than I am) Onyx Storm! The Spellshop would be a great book to recover with after the inevitable chaos of Onyx Storm. lol.

I’m thinking of a re-read of The Ony One Left soon, which is really saying something because I don’t tend to re-read thrillers. It’s so good. And I can’t sing Fourth Wing’s praises enough!

  2. I like that you keep your bookshelves for pretty books and books that you know you’re going to reread. It seems like a really great way to use your space. Happy reading!

I don’t have a ton of space, so what I do have needs to be filled with books that bring me joy! I used to hold onto everything, but donating has helped me curate a really nice collection of books! Happy reading to you too!

  3. I definitely relate to feeling like Christmas was ages ago. Time just seems to be flying by, it’s so strange. It also looks like you’ve gotten some incredible books lately. What lovely gifts you’ve recieved 🥰 I agree those Bridge Kingdom covers are lovely and so many of the other books have such pretty designs too. The Only One Left is one of my top ten unowned standalones that I’m hoping to borrow from the library later this year. I somehow still need to start the Fourth Wing series (it’s a must for this year) but I imagine Onyx Storm will appear on a lot of lists too. I hope you enjoy all of the books from this list that you haven’t read yet.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who is surprised by how quickly time is flying this year! Although, if I think about it, January has been the longest month ever for me. lol. Time is weird! I hope you’re able to get to The Only One Left soon! It’s one of my all-time favorite thrillers. And Fourth Wing!!! I wish I could read it again for the first time. I hope you love it when you’re able to get to it. Thanks for stopping by!

      • Honestly it seems to be going too quickly to me but I know a lot of people tend to feel like January drags on forever 😂 thank you 😊 I’m determined to get to both of those this year. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series just as much 🥰

    • Jana

This series has gone through so many covers and we finally have a set that matches! It’s the perfect time to grab them! If only you could trade your old cover for the new one. lol.

    • Jana

Good call on waiting to read Iron Flame when you had Onyx Storm in hand. You’ll want to go right into OS as soon as you’re done! Agree on BK Borison. Did you see her new Christmas book that’s coming out later this year? I just got the eARC and might dive in soon. I love her writing.

  4. Of those I have read The Ornithologist’s Field Guide to Love by India Holton. It‘s ok, but I was a little underwhelmed. I hope you like it more than I did!

    • Jana

Looooove The Spellshop, and I’m so excited to start the next book!

Definitely give Bridge Kingdom a chance if you like fantasy romance. It’s one of my favorite series!

  5. RS

What a great batch! Spellshop’s purple edges are truly irresistible, aren’t they? They even got my notoriously tight wallet to open up. (which turned out to be very fortuitous as there are currently 10 holds per copy at my library…)

And that’s awesome you finally got beautiful covers for a series you love. There is no pain like books whose outsides don’t reflect their beautiful insides, especially given how many more books seem to be the opposite.

    • Jana

There’s just something about sprayed edges. lol. Publishers are figuring us out! Have you read The Spellshop yet? It’s so delightful. I think a re-read might be in my future.

      • RS

I have, I read it twice last year actually! (physically right after its release, and then a few months later on audio) Can confirm it’s just as good the second time.

        • Jana

I love the audiobook! That’s how I read it, and I loved the different voices the narrator used for the characters. Especially Kaz!

    • Jana

It was a total accident, but I agree! When I was done putting them all together my first thought was how pretty they look together. lol.

  6. Onyx Storm is the only book I’ve added to my personal collection in a while! I’ve been really good about not adding anything new while I work on getting through what I already have. :)

The Bridge Kingdom is one I’ve been meaning to read for AGES. I’m glad they finally came out with covers you liked and you were able to add them to your shelves!

    • Jana

Love the idea of reading what you have before getting more. I need to be better at that. lol.

I love The Bridge Kingdom so much! I hope you do, too, when you get to them!
