Welcome to another TTT! And happy April Fool’s Day! I actually hate this “holiday” lol. I don’t like pranks and lies and deception, but I thought this topic would be a fun way to acknowledge the day without lying to you and telling you I’m discontinuing TTT or deleting my blog or something else along those lines. lol. So the topic is: Books you’d be a Fool Not to Read. Share the books you think people must read for whatever reason. They could be your favorites, books you deem classics, books that you learned something important from, books you wish you’d read sooner, etc. You could even narrow it down to a specific genre and share the must-reads for that genre. Get creative!
I’ve decided to write about ten books that are better when you listen to them than when you read them with your eyes (yes, listening is reading too!). I love audiobooks, and I love them even more when the narrators are amazing or there are cool accents, neat sound effects, full casts, etc. So here are ten books that are amazing on their own, but even better in audiobook format.
The Cheat Sheet by Sarah Adams
I love Teddy Hamilton, and Renee Dorian was great, too! This is a comfort listen for me. It just makes me so happy. **This is closed-door**
A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
I love Jennifer Ikeda’s narration, but the GraphicAudio production took the entire series to a new level. I love the full cast and all the sound effects and music!
Take Me Back by Meghan March
I read this because of Andi Arndt, but the story ended up being so amazing that I’m pretty obsessed.
The Bridge Kingdom by Danielle L. Jensen
The audio is just amazing! I love both narrators, and the sound effects are awesome.
The Twelve Dates of Christmas by Jenny Bayliss
I don’t know if it was the circumstances under which I read this (cross stitching a gift for a friend by my Christmas tree) or what, but Elizabeth Knoweldon’s narration sounded so soothing and cozy and perfect for the story.
Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir
I think about the audio of this on a weekly basis. It’s so, so good. There’s an alien character, and the robotic voice done for him was so cool.
Call Me Maybe by Cara Bastone
Amazing narration, fun sound effects. This is another comfort listen I’ve read several times.
Heidi’s Guide to Four Letter Words by Tara Sivec and Andi Arndt
This is another book read by Andi Arndt, and I love her. Also, the book is about a podcaster, so I a lot of it sounds like a podcast! And it’s so funny!
The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren
I love these two narrators. Their on-air chemistry is amazing.
The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst
This was a magical listen, and the voice the narrator came up with for Kaz (a spider plant) is so cute.
It’s so fun that you picked a silly holiday to center a list on! I often look at the “silly” holidays (that aren’t really holidays :D) to inspire topics or content on my blog. (I need help sometimes.)
Glad to know these books are good on audio! I should try more audiobooks but I haven’t really given audio much of a chance.

Ooohh, totally agree with Project Hail Mary! It is so good on audio, and I love the sounds Rocky makes! I’ve read a couple of others on your list too, but not on audio. Maybe I should do a reread on audio. Happy TTT!
I’ve not listened to a book on audio before because I don’t have the concentration. When I was younger I used to have the read along cassette tape and book though and the sound effects did bring the stories to life!
I don’t like April Fools Day either. Luckily nothing much has ever happened but 😂

Ooh nice! I’ve never really ben an audio book reader but I know there are books out there that I’d like to try! I forgot which one it was but I vaguely remember someone telling me James Marsters narrated one…and it wasn’t a Buffy book either.

I also love audiobooks and think that some books are so much better when you listen to them. Project Hail Mary is on my TBR and I have heard from others that it is wonderful on audiobook, so I will have to see if my library has it. Nice list, Jana.

Great list! I haven’t read any of these specific books yet (in any format) but I do agree that some books are just better in audio.
I would add: Tamora Pierce’s Immortals quartet and her Circle of Magic quartet; Gilbert and Sullivan Set Me Free by Katherine Karr; and just about any other audiobooks produced by Full Cast Audio. (Not every audiobook with a full cast; that’s a specific recording studio. Their productions of children’s and YA books are great. I wish they hadn’t closed down.)
Ooooo thank you for the recs! I’ve heard great things about Tamora Pierce, but have never read a book of hers. Maybe audio is the way to go for me here! And I’m going to go look up Full Cast Audio. I love.a good audiobook!
I love audiobooks and Call Me Maybe was so good! Have you listened to Ready or Not by Cara Bastone?

I haven’t read any of these books though a couple have been on my TBR so maybe I should give audiobooks a try once again with one of these.. which one would you recommend i pick first?
Oh man, that’s a tough question! If you’re looking for sci-fi, Project Hail Mary is phenomenal. I’m not big into sci-fi, but I’d heard so many great things about it that I dove in head first and was entranced. So that might be my favorite on this list! ACOTAR would probably be next, as it sounds like a movie. You just need to make sure you get the GraphicAudio production and not the one by Jennifer Ikeda (although, I also loved that one). So probably one of those! Although, if you’re looking for contemporary romance I’d give Call Me Maybe a try first. It’s shorter, so a nice one to read as you dip your feet into the audiobook world. :)

I really liked your idea. And the twist is not bad though I really cannot deal with audiobooks, I can’t follow, I need the written word. But I’m glad it’s there for those who can.
I used to feel the same way you do! I could not pay attention whatsoever, and got so frustrated. But the more I listened, the more my brain sort of adapted to it. It also helps that I started finding the narrators I really like. Now I can crochet or cross stitch while listening and not miss a thing!
I see that as an advantage but I can’t even do my ironing while listening to a book. And there I don’t have to pay as much attention as to crafts.
Ohhh this is such a good take! I wish I had looked at it earlier…maybe I will have time to work up a belated post this weekend. If not, at least I can enjoy your recs. :)

The Cheat sheet is definitely the best place to start with Sarah Adams. It’s perfect! Are you excited for The Enchanted Greenhouse audio? I got an ebook for review, but almost want to wait until the audio is released and read it that way. I worry I’d miss the magic from The Spellshop audiobook. lol.
