Review Policy:

Books/genres I will accept: I predominately read adult romance (give me those swoons), and love it in all of its forms: contemporary, historical, romcom, fantasy, sci-fi, and suspense. I am happy with both closed and open doors. I also love the occasional mystery/thriller (although, cozy mysteries aren’t my thing).

I once read YA almost exclusively, but now it’s a rare occurrence and usually only happens with authors I’ve read and loved in the past or if a synopsis really grabs me.

Visit my sortable review index and filter it by stars to see what I’ve enjoyed in the past.

Books/genres I will not accept: Erotica, fanfiction, picture books (although, if it’s a Christmas one I will consider it for my annual Christmas blog event in December.), poetry, middle grade, literary fiction, and most nonfiction titles (I’ll consider travel-related nonfiction, such as memoirs and travelogues, but that’s about it).

Content notes: I avoid books with gratuitous vulgar language/swear words, books containing graphic violence, and books containing/about physical or sexual abuse.

IMPORTANT: I will not read books containing violence against animals (no matter how fleeting), or books where an animal that the reader or main characters care about dies on the page. For example, if a character’s pet experiences any sort of abuse or dies by natural/unnatural/violent causes on the page I will not read it. Please do not pitch your book to me if it includes animal cruelty or death. This is a major trigger for me. When in doubt, please ask me and include spoilers for anything you are concerned might fall into this category. I’d be happy to discuss this with you to determine if I would be the right fit for your book.

**I do not support the use of AI and will not accept books “written” (whether partially or fully),
edited, fine-tuned, or narrated by AI or that have AI-generated book covers.**

Formats I will accept: ARCs/galleys (both print and digital), finished copies (both print and digital), and audiobooks (I have Audible, Libro.fm, Google Play, and Chirp accounts). I’m on Netgalley and Edelweiss, and would be happy to receive review copies through either platform.

Formats I will not accept: ebooks that are not compatible with a Kindle, especially PDFs that do not allow me to adjust the font size on my Kindle.

If I accept your book, please understand that I have committed to read and review many other books as well. I’m also a major mood reader and I’ve got a large collection of non-review books that I’d like to have time for. This is why I really appreciate a specific date or time frame you’d like the review to appear on my blog. If you have no date preference, I will run the review when I have available space in my reading and blog calendars. I try my best to post a review around the book’s release date (unless you request something different), but that can’t always happen. If your book is already out, I will review it as soon as I am able to. I appreciate your patience.

I reserve the right to not finish your book. If this happens I will e-mail you and let you know it’s not the right fit for me (I won’t tell you why unless you specifically ask, because I hate hurting feelings.), and I will not rate or review it. It would not be fair for me to rate or review a book without reading the entire thing, but I will most likely mention my reasons for not finishing it on Goodreads and possibly here on my blog.

I don’t love everything I read. All of my reviews contain my honest opinions, and may or may not contain negative/critical comments about your book. I write my reviews in the classiest manner possible, but will not post an automatic glowing review in exchange for a free copy of the book. I will also not accept payment for my reviews.

Non-review things I’m open to: Exclusive author interviews or guest posts (as part of a blog tour or not), exclusive cover reveals, and giveaways. Bottom line, I want interesting content that my readers will enjoy from authors I have already read or am interested in reading. I don’t want to host content that is going to be copied and pasted on a bunch of different outlets or is outside of my personal bookish interests. I’m always welcoming of guest bloggers if we have similar interests, and I’m also happy to guest post on other blogs.

Non-review things I’m not open to: Release blitzes/blasts, cover reveal blitzes/blasts, guest posts or interviews that will be posted elsewhere, and promotional posts for a book or author I have not read or am not interested in reading. I’m also not interested in paid collaborations or content. I will not accept guest posts for random topics outside of books and reading, and I am not interested in embedding links to other outlets.

When e-mailing me your request, please include: book summary, publisher, release date, and preferred review post date (if you have specific wishes). And please, please include information about your book’s content warnings if there are any. I like knowing what I’m getting into. In order to protect my safety, I do not click links or open email attachments from people I do not know. If you’d like to direct me to other places online when I can find more information about you or your book, I will happily visit those places on my own!

Quoting and Plagiarism Policy:

Quotes from my book reviews may be used by authors, publishers, publicists, and anyone else involved with the ownership, production, or promotion of the book in question. However, please credit me, using my name (Jana) and my blog’s name (That Artsy Reader Girl). Anything else is considered plagiarism, and I will pursue it vigorously. Do not take my post, change a few words, and claim it as your own (even if you totally agree with me). Don’t feed my content into AI, ask AI to re-write it, and claim it as your own. Don’t repost or copy/paste my content to your outlet with credit to me and expect me to be ok with that. That’s still plagiarism. If you wish to include a link to my blog on your site or in your publication, directing readers to me, absolutely go for it.

Broke & Bookish Secret Santa and Christmas In July are secret gift-giving events that I host. Secret Santa isn’t a new thing and I didn’t invent it, but I did write up all the information (rules, participant questionnaires, etc.) for these two events. If you choose to host your own event, please come up with your own content and do not copy mine.

This policy briefly outlines the information I collect from and how I protect the privacy of my readers.

Commenting:
When you leave a comment on That Artsy Reader Girl, the information you enter in the comment form (Name, email address, and website) will be stored on my server. The purpose of including your email address is so that when I reply to your comment, you will receive an email notification. I will not use your email address for any other purpose, nor will I sell/share it with a third party. Akismet, a spam detection service that I use, will receive information about your comment to determine whether or not it is spam. To read their privacy policy, click here.

Any personal information you choose to post publicly as a comment on That Artsy Reader Girl is not my responsibility to protect.

Cookies:
I use StatCounter Analytics to monitor the unique visitors to That Artsy Reader Girl. When you visit, a 1st Party Visitor Cookie (sc_is_visitor_unique) will be set on your computer. According to StatCounter, “When [the cookie] is first set, a random id is generated and stored in the cookie in order to avoid counting you as a visitor more than once (e.g. if you are on a mobile device and your IP address changes while you browse)… this cookie also stores a count of your returning visits.” This cookie does not collect any personal information from you. Click here to read more about StatCounter’s cookies. There are no other cookies enabled on That Artsy Reader Girl.

Giveaways:
I used to use Rafflecopter forms for all of my giveaways, but they shut down their service on October 1, 2025. Any information that was entered into old Rafflecopter forms, such as your name, email address, the country you were in when you entered the giveaway, and your I.P. address are not accessible to me as I did not export any of that information before they shut down. All Rafflecopter widgets on my blog have converted to links that redirect to Rafflecopter’s landing page confirming their closure. I do not know what Rafflecopter themselves did with any information they collected and stored on their end, but you can email them (support@rafflecopter.com) with any questions or concerns you might have.

Link-Ups:
I use Inlinkz to allow users to link up their Top Ten Tuesday posts each week. If you submit a link, the URL, name, and email address you cho0se to submit are stored on the InLinkz website. Your email address will not be accessible to anyone publicly. To read Inlinkz’s privacy policy, click here.

Social Media Sharing:
Each of my blog posts has social media icons embedded (using a GDPR compliant plug-in that does not track your data) for your convenience. The Facebook widget may collect your IP address, your web browser User Agent, store and retrieve cookies on your browser, embed additional tracking, and monitor your interaction with the widget, including correlating your Facebook account with whatever action you take within the widget (such as “liking/sharing/recommending” a post), if you are logged in to Facebook. The X (formerly Twitter) widget (that still uses Twitter’s logo) makes requests to X’s servers for you to be able to share my posts using your X account. Third Parties:
Blog posts on this site may contain embedded videos or links to other websites. These websites obviously do not have the same privacy policy I do, and may use cookies, track your location, track your interaction with that content (e.g. if you play a video), etc.
