2024 Romantic Christmas Book Releases | A Book List

Posted December 2, 2024 by Jana in Book Spotlight, List / 4 Comments

I LOVE Christmas romances, and I spend the entire year anticipating when I will see the first announcement of an upcoming Christmas release from a publisher or author (and immediately begin creating this list)! As always, this list is very heavy on the contemporary romances. I wish there were more historical romances set at Christmastime! It just feels a little more magical to me! BUT we do have a fantasy Christmas romance, which is so rare to see, so that’s exciting!

This is by no means an exhaustive list. I could not possibly find them all, so if you’ve got one you’re excited about and you don’t see it here let me know in the comments!

Top Ten Things I’m Thankful for in 2024

Posted November 25, 2024 by Jana in About Me, Top Ten Tuesday / 12 Comments

Welcome to another TTT! This week is Thanksgiving in the USA, so I thought a thankful freebie would be fun. This year has been hard for me, so I thought it would be therapeutic to set all that aside for a few minutes and reflect on what’s gone right for me and what I’m thankful for.

1. I am thankful for my mom and my sister. They are my biggest cheerleaders, my confidants, and my best friends. My mom and I laugh together, cry together, and are pretty much the same person. She also takes care of me and is always looking out for what I need.

2. I am thankful for all the other people in my life who pull for me. I’ve been getting some very small health answers and going through many medical tests that I hope will lead to larger answers that will improve my quality of life. I’ve found a couple of those rare people in the medical field who actually care and are trying to help me.

3. I am thankful that I get to live in such a beautiful place! Looking for hints that the seasons are changing is one of my favorite things to do, and we have had great seasons this year!

4. I am thankful for animals, whether they are mine, a friend’s, or a stranger’s on Instagram. They never cease to make me smile.

5. I am thankful for books. I love reading and escaping to new worlds and meeting new people. I have always loved historical romance, but I love it even more now. Social media has become a toxic storm, and I love going back to a simpler time of house parties and balls. I also love fantasy, which always provides the most amazing distraction.

6. I am thankful that I don’t have to worry about where my next meal will come from or where I will sleep tonight. I am so fortunate to have the things I really need.

7. I’m thankful for my education.

8. I’m thankful for music, and the ability I have to connect with it on such a deep level.

9. I’m thankful for my talents of creativity and singing.

10. I’m thankful for my Heavenly Father.

What’s the biggest thing you’re thankful for this year?

Happy Thanksgiving this week to all who celebrate!
And if this is a hard time of year for you, I’m sending you hugs!

The Ten Oldest Books on My to-Read List

Posted November 18, 2024 by Jana in Top Ten Tuesday / 35 Comments

Welcome to another TTT! This week’s topic was submitted by Nicole @ BookWyrm Knits, and is: Oldest (aka Earliest Published) Books On My TBR. I love this topic because it gives me the opportunity to highlight books that got lost under the pile of all the new releases and trending titles. I’ve done my best to research some of these and find the correct publication year and the original cover, but it was tricky for some of them! Look at these retro covers! I’m curious to see what books are on your list this week!

1. The King of the Castle by Victoria Holt (1967)
2. The Time of the Hunter’s Moon by Victoria Holt (1983)
3. The Lion’s Lady by Julie Garwood (1988)
4. While My Pretty One Sleeps by Mary Higgins Clark (1989)
5. Gentle Rogue by Johanna Lindsey (December 1990)

6. Across a Wine-Dark Sea by Jessica Bryan (March 1, 1991)
7. Christmas Beau by Mary Balog (December 3, 1991)
8. Somewhere in Time by Barbara Bretton (June 1, 1992)
9. Captured by Victoria Lynne (July 1, 1995)
10. Somewhere I’ll Find You by Lisa Kleypas (October 1996)

I’m super curious if any of these have aged well. lol.
Maybe that’s why I haven’t read them yet!
Have you read any of these?

Top Ten Books with Destination Names in the Title

Posted November 11, 2024 by Jana in Top Ten Tuesday / 20 Comments

Welcome to another TTT! This week’s topic is: Destination Titles. These are titles with names of places in them, such as cities, states, and countries–real or fictional. You could also include landmarks, buildings (like a cafe, bookstore, or the name of an academy/mansion/house), or more generic locations like a park, beach, etc. If it’s a place you or a book character can be, it counts. This was a topic Rachel @ Sunny Side came up with for a freebie week last year and has let me steal it! Thanks, Rachel! I love a book that takes me somewhere, so this topic is perfect for me! These books are all on my TBR, so if you’ve read any of them please let me know what you think of them!

1. In Italy for Love by Leonie Mack
2. The Christmas Castle in Scotland by Julie Caplin
3. A Match Made in Ireland by E.D. Hackett
4. The Luckiest Lady in London by Sherry Thomas
5. A Newport Christmess by Jess Heileman
6. That One Time in Hawaii by Ella Beachley
7. The Paris Deception by Bryn Turnbull
8. Second Chance Alaska by Jennifer Snow
9. New York, Actually by Sarah Morgan
10. Troy Story by Carla Luna

What’s your favorite place to travel to through books?

Top Ten Books with Autumn Foliage on the Cover

Posted November 4, 2024 by Jana in Top Ten Tuesday / 19 Comments

Welcome to another TTT! And happy November! I love this time of year, and can’t believe we’re here! This week’s topic is Books with [Item] on the Cover. This means you choose the item! It can be anything or anyone at all. If you need some ideas, I’ve done the following in the past: modes of transportation, flowers, snow, water, animals, Christmas lights, Thanksgiving foods, school supplies, hearts, beautiful places, fancy dresses, and Christmas trees in the past. Since we’re well into Fall where I live, I’ve chosen to share books that have autumn leaves on the cover! I can’t wait to see what item you pick.
