Where the lovelight gleams …

A pasture of dead trees. A hostile takeover of the Santa barn by a family of raccoons. And shipments that have mysteriously gone missing. Lovelight Farms is not the magical winter wonderland of Stella Bloom’s dreams.

In an effort to save the Christmas tree farm she’s loved since she was a kid, she enters a contest with instafamous influencer Evelyn St. James. With the added publicity and the $100,000 cash prize, she might just be able to save the farm from its financial woes. There’s just one problem. To make the farm seem like a romantic destination for the holidays, she lied on the application and said she owns Lovelight Farms with her boyfriend. Only … there is no boyfriend.

Enter best friend Luka Peters. He just came home for some hot chocolate, and somehow got a farm and a serious girlfriend in the process.

Well that was lovely. Anyone who throws together fake dating best friends on a Christmas tree farm deserves my undivided attention. And, B.K. Borison you got it! I will admit, I was worried about the hype but I needn’t have worried. This was lovely. Lovely, I tell you. As always, my main points are bolded.

1. Ok. Stella owns a Christmas tree farm that she and her mother, who passed away before the book began, went to when she was a child. It holds so many memories for her, so when it went up for sale she bought it. But times are tough. The farm is hemorrhaging money because everything keeps going wrong (or is it sabotage??), so she enters a content to try and win a cash prize and publicity from a famous social media influencer. Grrr… I am so tired of influencers. Like, SO tired. lol. But moving on. Stella lies on the application for the contest and claims her best friend, who she has been in love with for years, is her boyfriend. No big deal, she will rope him into pretending he is. And he is really, really good at it. Stella is super likable. She’s guarded, but she loves fiercely and protects those she cares about. Luka is a dreamboat. No complaints.

2. Speaking of Luka. He’s Italian and loves to cook Stella yummy pasta dishes, tidies up her home when he visits, and will drop everything at the drop of a hat to be there for her. Where do I get myself a Luka? And his mother, oh my gosh. I love his mom.

3. I love the other supporting characters who co-own the farm with Stella. They’ve got a lovely found family dynamic, and look out for one another. The three of them are such a supportive and loving unit. I’m excited to read their stories in the other books in this series. I also love the local sheriff. He’s taken Stella on as a daughter figure and is very quick to help her with whatever she needs. He watches out for her, and I loved that. The influencer, Evelyn, even won me over, with her down-to-earth personality and caring nature. All in all, it’s such a great cast of characters.

4. I loved the setting so much. The Christmas tree farm sounds magical and beautiful, and the descriptions of the scenery and the weather were breathtaking. I loved the small town, and how everyone knew everyone. It felt like such a friendly place to be.

5. There’s a bit of a mystery, with a couple tense moments, which really added to the story! There’s also a lot of depth surrounding the origins of Stella’s and Luka’s friendship and also how she acquired the farm, which grounded the rather light and fluffy main storyline.

All in all, I loved this. Lovelight Farms is just as sweet and cozy as its name, and I really enjoyed reading it. I got all the warm fuzzies and so much Christmas cheer. I can’t wait to read the other books!

Snowed in at a cabin with the most infuriating man in the world. I may take my chances with the wolves...

When my best friend found out I’d be alone over Christmas, she hooked me up with a week stay in her family’s cabin in Idaho. I was on a publishing deadline for my latest book and was really looking forward to a cozy week by the fire, cuddled up in flannel pajamas with my laptop and hot chocolate.

Alone.

So imagine my surprise when I arrived at the cabin during a blizzard, and found it already occupied. By an all too familiar face and a fine pack of chiseled abs. Even though it had been ten years since I’d last seen Chase, he had no problem picking up exactly where we left off. I had a big problem with it.It didn’t matter what he threw at me—the old nickname, the teasing, his charming grin, or even those chiseled abs (did I already mention those?), I refused to let him get to me after…the incident. Nope, not me. I was made of stone.

Unfortunately, I’m beginning to understand that when you strike Chase against stone…you get sparks.

★A Christmas Spark is a closed-door romantic comedy full of heart, sizzle, witty banter, and one tiny swear word, but swoony kisses are as steamy as it gets!

I love, love snowed in romances, so when I stumbled across this book last year while looking for some fun Christmas reads I knew I had to have it even though I’m not the biggest fan of enemies to lovers. In this story, the enemies part comes from back in high school when Chase said some hurtful things about Penny. She still feels that pain, whereas he has no recollection of ever saying anything. I think the fact that only one of them saw the other as an enemy is why the trope didn’t bother me. I do wish these two had talked it out way before now, though, because 10 years is a long time to feel that kind of pain over a thing your dumb brother’s best friend said as a teen. But then we wouldn’t have a story, would we? And honestly, if I put myself in Penny’s shoes I’d still be hurt 20 years later and definitely wouldn’t have said anything to Chase about it, so who am I to talk? High school is rough. I know I came out a little traumatized. I really enjoyed how they handled working through it, though, and Chase’s treatment of the situation warmed my heart. The boy has grown up. And he’s gotten himself some abs.

I loved the setting of the cabin. It sounded so cozy and remote, with all the snow and the cold nights under blankets. I’d love to be stranded in that cabin, and I’d really love to be stranded in it with Chase. I loved the banter, the antics, and the Christmas. It’s such a short, short story that I really can’t say much more without spoiling anything! There’s some super swoony moments and some tender discussions and I enjoyed all of it. Many feelings. Cindy’s writing is great, and I can’t wait to read more of this series!

A Christmas Eve ball.
A light-hearted beauty.
An earl who needs to come in from the cold.

All year long, Chloe Garland’s been trading witty remarks and heated glances with her nemesis, the arrogant Lord Cheverell. But when Chloe tricks him into wearing a hideous waistcoat—complete with sequins, pompoms, and jingle bells—to her family’s Christmas Eve party, she may have gone too far. Her penalty? A single, scorching kiss—and a Christmas gift she never expected.

Love.

I love Tessa Dare, and I’ve been suffering patiently waiting for her next release so I was excited to stumble upon this short story that I had heard absolutely nothing about! When She Was Naughty is a cute, festive, bite-sized story that’s perfect to curl up with on a snowy night! Our heroine, Chloe, tricks Lord Cheverell into wearing the ugliest Christmas waistcoat ever to her family’s fancy ball because she thinks he hates her. The description of this thing is just wonderfully horrible, and I love it so much! In reality, he’s been in love with her for months and this trick has him thinking she hates him. There’s not a lot of depth or angst, just some witty banter, a prank gone wrong, some misunderstandings, a few swoons, and a big dose of festive cheer.

I left this book with a big smile on my face, and that’s really all I ask of a Christmas book. Do I wish it was longer and more developed? Yes. But I wholeheartedly enjoyed what I was given. I highly recommend checking out When She Was Naughty if you need a little pick-me-up and a reminder that Christmas is the most wonderful (and romantic) time of the year!

One little white lie.

That's all it took. Now I'm suddenly having to fake-date my work nemesis to get me through a week at a Vermont Christmas lodge with my family.

The problem? I can't stand Miles Taylor. Not only that, but I don't date people I work with. But I can handle it. I've had practice faking my emotions for years. So it shouldn't matter that Miles never lets me get away with anything. And that he happens to boil my blood hotter than a steaming pot of wassail. So when he throws his annoying grin my way or forces me on dates he knows I'll hate, I'll just grit my teeth and smile.

Or maybe not. Did I mention that Miles is the one person in the world I can't seem to fool?

When my emotions begin feeling less like a sham and his arms feel way too comfortable, it makes me think that maybe Miles had a plan of his own. And I'm starting to like it a lot more than mine.

★ Faking Christmas is a sweet, closed door romance full of sizzle, witty banter, and chemistry, but without explicit content.

I’ve been having so much fun with the Christmas Escape series this year! This series consists of 7 full-length, standalone novels that are all super swoony closed-door romances. In each story, someone is trying to escape something in their lives, whether it be the holidays themselves or someone/something in their life. One book was released per week, starting on October 16th, 2022 and ending on November 30th, 2022. And, as of right now, they’re all on Kindle Unlimited! Faking Christmas was the one I was most excited about, because I love fake dating and I loved Cindy Steel’s Christmas novella, A Christmas Spark, which I read last year! Faking Christmas did not disappoint one bit. In fact, it’s a new favorite and a book I plan to read again and again.

1. First off, I really love closed-door romances during Christmas. Don’t get me wrong, I love open door romances as well, but there’s just something about Christmas that makes me want to focus more on the holiday season than on intimacy. But I still love love. That’s why this series appealed to me so much. Cindy Steel is so good at creating these sweet, romantic moments and I don’t even miss the sexy scenes at all!

2. I loved Olive and Miles. Both are teachers at the same school, and they’re not the biggest fans of each other. I really don’t enjoy enemies to lovers stories so I was a bit worried, but these two are friendly enemies. They don’t care for one another, but they’re still kind and respectful to each other. They tease each other and poke fun at minor things, but there’s no hate there. Phew! I really struggle with characters who fight and argue all the time, so I’m so glad that was not the case with this book. Both characters are endearing, sweet, silly, and great for one another. Miles is a dreamboat and Olive is the girl next door.

3. I really liked most of the supporting characters. Miles’s family is wonderful. I love his dad in particular, and his mom is super nice. I also liked Olive’s sister and think they have a really cute relationship. She also has adorable twin nieces and a cool brother-in-law. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Olive’s mom, but I came around in time. Olive’s ex is also around for a little while, and he’s a slime ball.

4. I loved all the Christmas! The lodge in Vermont sounds stunning, with cabins all blanketed in snow. The lodge hosts a Christmas bingo with fun festive tasks for guests to complete, plus they have fun activities like sledding and gingerbread house making. The cabins all have Christmas trees, music plays over the speakers, dinner is done family style in the main building. It just sounds so perfect! Miles talks Olive into doing a polar bear plunge with him, and that might be my favorite scene.

5. The romance is *chef’s kiss*. I LOVE fake dating, and these two do such a great job… at first. Miles is so enthusiastic about the fake dating scheme and really goes overboard with affection. I couldn’t stop beaming as I read. He pushes Olive outside of her comfort zone, but in doing so he shows her what she truly deserves. They have multiple deep conversations, evening cuddle sessions, and flirty moments. The banter is perfection. The kisses were swoony and definitely steamed up my glasses. I love reading a good kiss.

6. There’s a deeper underlying issues surrounding grief and the loss of a parent (that happened before the book begins), which I feel was handled so well and allowed Olive and Miles to form a deep and meaningful connection. I felt so many feels!

All in all, Faking Christmas is a Christmas book lover’s dream come true. I highly, highly recommend you give it a try! It’s guaranteed to warm your heart and put a smile on your face. I hope it ends up on audio someday so I can listen when I need a pick-me-up!

It’s simple: Noah Peterson and I are enemies. Our fellow teachers know it, our friends know it—even the Starbucks drive-through lady knows it since every Monday she scrawls the name A. Hole for me on Noah’s cappuccino when I pick up the weekly group order.

The shrill whine of the school bell announces the start of each day’s no-holds-barred grudge match. Since neither of us is looking to get fired or thrown in prison, we war with our words and our wits. We prefer banter that bites. All day, I’m on edge, looking around every corner, expecting him to do his worst. Just when I think I can’t take the sight of his (regretfully) handsome face for one more minute, the school day is done.

Summer usually offers the sweetest relief—a two-month Noah detox—but not this year.

“We need two volunteers to chaperone a group of eighth graders in Rome” becomes a game of chicken neither one of us is willing to lose. We both want that bonus check.

“Back out,” I tell him.
“Scared?” he taunts.

No one thinks it’s a good idea for us to go to Rome together, least of all me. Taking this battle abroad will only lead to mayhem and misery.

DING. Ladies and gentlemen of flight UA447 with service to Rome, fasten your seatbelts.
We’re bound to have a bumpy ride.

I discovered R.S. Grey last year when I fell in love with Hotshot Doc. Since then, I’ve been gobbling up all of her books and she just keeps knocking it out of the park! And it’s honestly like she heard my cries for a travel romance, because Enemies Abroad takes place in Rome, Italy. I think I’m officially an R.S. Grey fangirl for life. Each and every time I read a book of hers, I find a new favorite. As always, my main points are bolded.

1. Ah, Italy. I loved my vacation in Italy, visiting all the typical tourist sites, getting gelato and pasta, and learning historical and cultural tidbits. This class trip includes a lot of fun day trips shopping, going to the beach, and sightseeing. There’s also a lot of time while the kids are in class and Audrey has time off to read, visit cafes, explore the area around the school (it’s a mansion with classrooms and dormitory-style living quarters). She even has a little thing with one of the Italian teachers for a bit, and we get to follow her on morning coffee dates. It felt very slice-of-life for me, and I loved it.

2. I loved both Audrey and Noah, and I loved them together. They are both 8th grade teachers with neighboring classrooms who both end up chaperoning a group of, I believe it is 10, students in Rome for 3 weeks. This is a daunting task for two adults who don’t exactly like each other, but I really think they’re just pretending. Audrey is funny, a little anxious, and such a kind and sweet person. She seems like such a caring teacher, and I would have loved to have been in her class. Noah is this big sexy man with a huge heart and a little snarky. I also loved the supporting characters. Their principal and some of the other teachers at the school they teach at in the States are so friendly and supportive. There’s a group of students and chaperones from a fancy New York prep school that are also in Rome for this study abroad trip, and I liked both of them. Lorenzo, the Italian teacher who is basically their ambassador and plans out their studies and activities, is also really fun. I liked all the kids (well, not the prep school kids as much), which surprised me. I don’t love kids in romance novels, but Audrey and Noah have some sweet students and I liked their attempts at matchmaking and their silly gossiping.

3. It can be hard to write an enemies to lovers plotline that doesn’t make the reader want to strangle one or both of the love interests by the halfway point of the story. Sometimes the bickering and undermining gets to be too much for me and I don’t enjoy reading the book anymore. That’s not the case here, thank goodness! The bickering is very thinly laid over major pining and flirting and real feelings. It was just enough to create that delicious push and pull that I love so much in romance novels. And boy, did I love it. The author never fully explains why Audrey and Noah “hate” each other, which I think it part of the fun. I don’t think either of them knows why either! They have some very flirty moments, combined with some very explosive outbursts and it was so much fun to watch them fall for each other. They are experts on each other because it takes work to hate a person! They know just what to do to push one another’s buttons, which also means they know exactly what the other person loves and cares about. This creates depth and realness to their romance once it begins. That fine line between love and hate is so perfectly explored in this book.

4. I feel like Enemies Abroad is less steamy than R.S. Grey’s other books, and I didn’t miss the extra steam at all. It’s practically fade to black, but not completely. And it makes sense! Audrey and Noah are required to be responsible, alert adults in charge of the welfare of these kids for at least 90% of the book (and they’re trying to keep this a secret), so it makes sense that their intimate moments are fleeting and far between. You don’t want a kid to knock on the door needing help when you’re in the middle of sexytimes. Instead of a bunch of sexy scenes we’re gifted with longing glances and more pining and soft brushes under the table or walking through the halls.

5. My only real complaint is that I would have loved it if Noah and Audrey had taken turns narrating the story. I wish I had been able to get into Noah’s head a bit more and see what he was thinking and feeling.

All in all, I LOVED Enemies Abroad. I loved flying off to Italy for a fun adventure, and I loved the unique story of rival teachers having to work together to keep a group of kids safe in a foreign country. The writing was wonderful, the humor made me giggle, and the romance made me swoon. What more can I ask for?
