So this fun little topic came through on the TTT topic submission form, and I’ve actually had a lot of fun with this one! We all see the trends that come and go regarding book title structures and word choices. I spent a lot of time searching the books I’ve added to Goodreads and came up with this list of commonly used words in YA book titles. The number next to each word tells how many YA books I’ve added to Goodreads that have that word in the title. And these are just the ones I added. There are like a million others. lol.
1. Girl/Girls (60)
The Girl of Fire and Thorns, Dangerous Girls, New Girl, The Goose Girl, The Coldest Girl In Coldtown, Smart Girls Get what They Want, Geek Girl, Girl Underwater, The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making, The Lost Girl, Fangirl, Jesse’s Girl, The Girl at Midnight, etc.

Which genre or age group did you decide to focus on today?
Do we have any words in common?
GIRL was way up there on my list, too. Interesting topic this week.
This was SUCH a fun topic, Jana, and I like how you spun it. I had a hard time coming up with ten one word, but I think this was more owing to the fact that I was “last minute” (or I felt like it was) putting the topic together. :)
Thanks, as always, for hosting this.

I twisted the topic just a little and focused on cover images instead of words for Holocaust books.
I’d love to say I’m surprised at just how many YA books use your words, but I’m not, although seeing them all listed like that is kind of interesting.
Have a wonderful week.

There are so many titles with “girl” (and that’s the one I used) but I’m surprised how many “blood”s there are! I seem to like titles with “blue” or “queen” in them for some reason. This has been a fun topic this week!

Hey!
We had a lot of words in common! Mostly daughter and girl. Those two really get to me lately. It’s almost like every book these days is just called Daughter of… or Girl with…
Anyway, I’ve also started a gofundme to go to college! $5 can make a huge difference! If you can’t donate then plz share it with others! Link: https://www.gofundme.com/collegeh
Have a nice week!
I focused on the frequently used words in my historical fiction titles and we share the words: queen and shadow. :-)

It’s kind of odd how often the word smoke turns up in YA fiction titles. Weird!

Great list. I did Crime Fiction and we had three in common (Girls are EVERYWHERE! Plus Daughter and You: https://juliapalooza.com/2018/04/24/toptentuesday-24-april-2018/
I went with romance books for this list, but I didn’t even think to list how many of each were on my Goodreads shelves! That’s a fun addition to the list. And this was a really fun topic! :)

Blood and Daughter are everywhere and would have been perfect for my YA fantasy list. I can’t believe I forgot them. I think blue may be the most common color used in a title. All the other colors are jealous.
I think you got alot of YA lovers very happy with this post!
This was such an interesting topic! It was fun to see how generic some title can be. The similarities do make me confuse titles at times! ><
There are so many “girls” books! It’s getting slightly ridiculous. Great list!

I tweaked the topic a little too…I was stumped ;)
I never imagined there were so many books with “girl” in the title!
