Top Ten Beautiful Purple Book Covers

Posted May 7, 2018 by Jana in Top Ten Tuesday / 43 Comments

This week’s topic surrounds your favorite color. It can either appear on the cover or in the title itself. I have a ton of favorite colors, and my Favorite changes all the time depending on my mood. Does anyone else go through phases with their favorite colors? I also like different colors for different situations, such as colors I wear versus colors of things I own. Anyway, I’ve chosen to showcase purple covers today!

That Inevitable Victorian Thing
by E.K. Johnston
Wicked Like a Wildfire by Lana Popović

A Thousand Nights by E.K. Johnston
The Bone Witch by Rin Chupeco

Goldeline by Jimmy Cajoleas
Toil & Trouble: 15 Tales of Women & Witchcraft by Various Authors

Traitor to the Throne by Alwyn Hamilton
A Dance of Silver and Shadow by Melanie Cellier

The Library of Light and Shadow by M.J. Rose
Reign of Shadows by Sophie Jordan

I haven’t read any of these, but I want to!
Tell me which ones to prioritize and which ones I should pass on.
Which color did you choose this week?

  1. My “favorite” colors shift all the time. I feel like it’s kind of about trends and what’s currently the “it” fashion must have or color. :)

This is a beautiful collection – “Reign of Shadows” always struck me as a stunning design and cover.

  2. Although my favourite colour is green (because it is most consistently my favourite and invokes a lot of positive memories), I have a few different favourite colours depending on what they are for. For example, although I actually really dislike yellow, I love that egg yolk shade in art and nature even if I don’t like it as a shirt. Purple is definitely a close second for me!

  3. Oh these are gorgeous! All amazing but I especially love The Bone Witch (I’ve always liked that cover) and Goldeline- oh my gosh that one is awesome. Reign of Shadows too.

  4. WOW the UK cover for A Thousand Nights is pretty stunning!

I’ve only read That Inevitable Victorian Thing and The Bone Witch. I had mixed feelings about both of them but I think That Inevitable Victorian Thing (I’m still kind of amused by how the working title just… never got changed and now it’s the novel’s actual title…) was my favourite of the two.

I haven’t read any of these, but I have to admit I wasn’t at all a fan of the first in Alwyn Hamilton’s trilogy so never continued! 🙈
Yay for us both loving purple; I chose 10 covers that colour too 💜💜

  6. A Thousand Nights has one of the most beautiful covers, there’s so much detail on the hardback – I love it when publishers put that much effort into a book’s design and it’s such a rich, jewel-tone purple. I’m really looking forward to Toil & Trouble – great list!

  7. Kay

I’m not sure I’ve thought about having a ‘favorite’ color for years. However, I do love purple and teal and dark pink and rich blue – really the jewel tones. Those books you picked above all have lovely covers, but I’ve not read any of them.

  8. These covers are all so gorgeous! My friend and I were talking yesterday about the amazing covers being created…so different than those books I read as a kid where “dun brown,” and “slate gray” were the norm.

Happy to have found your blog from “I Wish I Lived in a Library,” and looking forward to reading some archived posts.

  9. I’ve read That Inevitable Victorian Thing (and included it in my Top Ten today, because I also did purple!) It was pretty good, if a little fluffy. Bone Witch was also on my Top Ten, though I haven’t read it yet. And I’m off to pick up Traitor to the Throne from the library today; I read the first one, Rebel of the Sands, and it was excellent.

  10. Oooh, those are all lovely! I haven’t read any, but (since I am a sucker for good book covers) I think I need to look into them…

  11. The covers are so pretty, I haven’t read any of the books you have listed. I hope you enjoy the one you pick to read first. My color is red. Have a wonderful day.

  12. I totally just clicked over and bought That Inevitable Victorian Thing, based on nothing but the title and the cover.

Apparently I have no will power, but that’s hardly news.

I hadn’t realised how many beautiful purple books there were in the world :)
