The Ten Longest Books I’ve Read

Posted October 8, 2018 by Jana in Top Ten Tuesday / 33 Comments

This week you get to brag about the longest books you’ve ever read! This can be by page number, by hours and minutes in the audiobook, by days/weeks/months it took you to read it, etc. You choose how you measure “long”. For me, I’m going by page number! I’m not counting textbooks or religious texts in this list. I’m going strictly by the page numbers, and it’ll show up here even if I didn’t like it because I deserve the credit!!

Winter by Marissa Meyer

Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer

The Beauty of Darkness by Mary E. Pearson

Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

The Host by Stephenie Meyer

Grave Mercy by Robin LaFevers

New Moon by Stephenie Meyer

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

Cress by Marissa Meyer

What’s the longest book you’ve ever read?

  1. WOW!! I didn’t know the Lunar books were THIS long (still haven’t read them) nor did I realize one of Mary’s books was so long. Goodness. Both series are on my someday-TBR so I’d best become comfortable with LOOONG books. :D

  2. Wrote a long comment about the books but then clicked a wrong button and it erased my comment. But I did want to ask, how does the link up work? Do people who sign up have their link appear first? or is it just randomized? Because every time I refresh the page, it’s in a different order (and it doesn’t have to do with more people linking up).

      Oh darn!

The link-up was weird this week, but I actually just fixed it. I accidentally used the random one instead of the “first entries at the top” one, so the list was shuffled each time the page refreshed. I fixed it now, so it’s in a fixed order. Sorry about that!

  3. Ahh I‘m so excited to be taking part in this for the first time! ☺️ The Lunar Chronicles made it on my list, too, and The Book Thief almost did—I love that book. ❤️

Lovely post! Your graphics are so pretty 😍

  4. I hope I get to Cress and Winter one day. Not my typical genre, but loved the series when I was reading it with the girls. I want to go back to The Book Thief too. The opening didn’t capture me, but I think once I get into it the story will pull me in.

  5. I haven’t read any of these yet, but I do plan on reading the ACOTAR books at some point (probably next year) so it looks like I have more long books ahead of me. The Throne of Glass books are long too!

  6. I have read 3 on your list (New Moon, Cress, and Winter). I say Winter will be on a lot of lists. I’ve only read the first 2 books in the Twilight Series. I don’t think I’ll ever read the rest because of the content in the last book. I have started Kiss of Deception, but I’m not that far into it.

  7. I’ve read a lot of those on your list: Twilight series, The Book Thief, and Lunar Chronicles series. My longest one is It by Stephen King.

  8. I forgot Winter was so long. So I am glad I looked at your list before I put mine together today. When I look at it this way, I don’t get that panicky about big books. Because even though I have read big books, I do hesitate a bit when I see a chunker!! Have a great day!

  9. Winter, the book thief and cress are the only books I read on your list. the lunar chronicles is definitely a long series.

    have a lovely day.

  10. Jana, I did count religious texts in my lists so my longest book is The Holy Bible with 1127 pages, however The Lord of the Rings is not far behind with around 1077 pages.

  11. The longest book I ever read was War and Peace- 1372 pages- but I quickly realized the war parts were dreadful and dull so mostly read the peace chapters. Even then, it was dry and confusing. I know it’s a classic and we’re supposed to love it, but…no.

Thank you for the link-up! It’s fun to check out so many different blogs.

  12. Didn’t think the twilight series were that lengthy. One of the longest books I remember reading was The Legend of the Condor Heroes. Kinda thinking of reading the second one, too. Do you have the word count for you list?
