Welcome to a very special Top Ten Tuesday! Exactly 10 years ago today, we posted the very first ever TTT post over at The Broke and the Bookish.
This is also the 500th TTT topic that’s ever been done!
OH. And today is ALSO my birthday! So there’s lots to celebrate.
As you all know, I started out book blogging as a co-blogger at The Broke and the Bookish back in June of 2010. A few weeks later, TTT was born. I branched off in November 2011 and opened That Artsy Reader Girl so I could have more freedom to post book reviews when the publisher needed them. So the very first TTT I did here was on November 15, 2011. In total, I’ve posted 223 TTTs here in addition to many of the ones I did over at TB&TB. When Broke & Bookish shut down in January of 2018, TTT came here to live with me. Needless to say, I’ve been here since the beginning and I still love this meme so much. I love what it’s done to bring the book community together, and I’m excited to keep it going!
Anyway! This topic is kind of an update or commentary on ten of my old TTTs from the first year I started blogging, all the way up until now. My reading tastes have changed a lot, so there’s a lot to update! These are the highlights.
1. Top Ten Unread Books On My Bookshelf – 11/15/11
Of the 10 books I listed in this topic, I’ve only read 2 of them!! Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier and Dash & Lily’s Book of Dares by David Levithan and Rachel Cohn. That’s pretty hilarious. Maybe I should give up on the others?
2. Top Ten Authors I Wish Would Write Another Book – 1/10/12
In this post I complained about Stephanie Meyer not continuing The Host trilogy, but now we’re getting Midnight Sun! So that’s even better! Stephanie Perkins wrote a horror novel after the Anna trilogy, which was a definite surprise! Suzanne Collins gave us another Hunger Games book, which nobody saw coming!
3. Top Ten Books I Recommend to People the Most – 3/26/13
I still recommend On the Island by Tracey Garvis Graves ALL THE TIME. Now, I think I’d add anything by Christina Lauren, The Tourist Attraction by Sarah Morgenthaler, and Lauren Blakely’s contemporary romance audiobooks!
4. Top Ten Most Intimidating Books – 7/2/13
These are still intimidating! All I’ve read of this list of 10 is The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. It was meh. I read it because it was required in grad school. I’m not even interested in trying to read If I Stay by Gayle Forman,The Time Travelerβs Wife by Audrey Niffenegger, Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson, or A Game of thrones by George R.R. Martin anymore!
5. Top Ten Popular Authors I’ve Never Read – 3/3/14
This is so funny. Look at the popular authors of 2014! Or, at least the ones I thought were popular. Some of them are not so popular anymore. And I’ve still… hardly read any of them! And that’s ok! I did read a book by John Green… lol. That’s it!
6. Top Ten Characters I Wish Would Get Their Own Book – 5/19/15
Nikolai of Leigh Bardugo’s Grisha trilogy actually got his own book, King of Scars! It’s a miracle! And Edward is finally going to tell his story in Midnight Sun. Another miracle.
7. Top Ten Series I’ve Been Meaning to Start But Haven’t – 6/19/17
Lots to update here. Still haven’t started Marie Lu’s Legend series, but I’m not really interested anymore. I DNFed Kristin Cashore’s Graceling. I still REALLY want to read Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton series, Tessa Dare’s Wanton Dairymaid trilogy, and the Pink Carnation series. Not so sure about Juliet Marillier’s series anymore… And I’ve read one book in Sarah Morgan’s From Manhattan with Love series! So good! And I’ve read a few Lucky Harbor books… kinda meh.
8. Top Ten Books that Have Been On My To-Read List the Longest – 2/5/18
They’re… all still on my to-read list!
9. Top Ten Books I’d Slay a Lion to Get Early – 4/30/18
So I actually got most of these books early. I DNFed Escaping from Houdini, didn’t love The Real Deal, was meh on The Governess Game, DNFed 99% Mine, and LOVED Serious Moonlight! I was so excited about all of these, and ended up loving one and either not loving/not finishing/not reading all the others. lol. I’m such a mood reader!
10. Top Ten Books I Could Re-Read Forever – 2/26/18
So I still feel this way about everything I listed!
Phew! What a trip down memory lane! One thing’s for sure… I don’t love YA the way I used to. But I still love books, and that’s all that matters. Which topic did you choose to do this week?
And in honor of TTT’s birthday and 500th topic, can you please share in the comments your experiences with TTT?
How long have you been posting them?
Did TTT introduce you to any new friends/blogs/books?
What have been some of your favorite topics?
Do you have suggestions for future topics?Β
Thanks for coming along for the ride! Here’s to 10 more years!

Jana, happy Top Ten Tuesday birthday, and a very happy birthday to you! Thank you so much for all you do to keep this feature running. It’s always fun. I haven’t been joining for ten years, but I have participated for the last eight years (not every week, but frequantly), and I always enjoy the conversation the feature inspires. :) One of my favorites is one you bring back every new season and that’s TBRs! I’m always a cover snob, so usually anything that can be made to involve cover art is always a fun one! Love seasonal lists too like for Christmas. :)
Happy 10th anniversary- and happy birthday too! I love this meme and have discovered so many good books, and more importantly, so many awesome bloggers and friends through this feature! It’s amazing, and thanks for keeping it going! :)
The truth is, I only discovered this in January 2019 (even though I’ve been blogging since May 2013), and including this one, I’ve only done 12! But since I’m retiring, I’m hoping that I’ll have more time for these in the future! Congrats on the milestone and here’s to another 10 years!
Oh, and happy birthday as well! Wishing you health and happiness for the coming year!
I actually started participating in TTT in 2011 when it was hosted by The Broke and Bookish and have been sporadically for the past few years. I’ve partnered with someone and we are re-branding but TTT will forever be apart of our site
Congrats on your 10th anniversary! I’ve sure had fun doing the top 10 for the last couple of years. It’s funny how our reading tastes change. I used to love cozy mysteries but I can’t stand them now!
Many, many happy returns of the day! πππ And thank you so much for continuing to host this meme. I have discovered so many new blogs as a result and I love looking at how bloggers interpret each topic.
First of all, happy Birthday!!!
πππ
And congratulations to this successful programme. We all love it. Thanks.
And what a lovely topic you chose. Should have know that earlier. ;)
Anyway, my topic is an old one I missed:
Characters You Would Want As Family Members
Have a great day!
Happy tenth birthday TTT – and thank you so much for keeping it going all these years! :D
Happy Birthday to you…and Top Ten Tuesday. Thank you for keeping things trucking along with this meme. It has not only helped me to find some amazing books and bloggers, it has also helped me to look at my own reading habits in a different way and branch out a bit from my norm. Mostly, it’s just a lot of fun. Hope you have a wonderful day.
Happy Birthday!!! And thank you for continuing to host this amazing meme every week. Here’s to another 10 years.
Happy Birthday to Top Ten Tuesday! Thanks for all that you do and here’s to many years to come. :)
Wow. I can’t believe how long TTT has been running. I forgot to look to see when I joined in on the fun. I started blogging in January of 2010 and was all very new to everything that first year. I felt like such a newb. Lol. Plus there weren’t a lot of other bloggers, so it was hard to figure out what to do. But I’ve enjoyed my blogging journey. I also love this meme. A friend of mine used to have a similar one for Friday, I want to say? It was a top 5 thing but then she quit blogging and the meme died. It was probably around or maybe before then when I discovered this meme!
Here’s my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I swear it’s everyone’s birthday today? I keep seeing more and more of them. Happy Birthday!
Happy birthday to you and to TTT! TTT is one of the reasons I started blogging more than 4 years ago. I thought the topics were so fun and I really wanted to participate!
It’s pretty cool that Nikolai got his own book after all.
My TTT .
Love these reflections, and how many of them came true!
Happy birthday TTT – thanks for continuing the tag! :)
Congrats on being 10 years old!!! *throws confetti* And happy birthday, Jana! I hope there’s cake. Please let there be cake. :P You definitely deserve some.
I’ve been doing TTT for … gosh … over a year now? Maybe a year and a half? I can’t even remember. I absolutely love it, though. I’ve met some of the best people through this, and I always have fun seeing everybody’s take on the same prompt!
Happy double birthday!
TTT ha always been one of my favorite meme!
I have no idea how I come to find TTT, maybe through someone’s blog. I didn’t participate right in the beginning because I didn’t know about it.
I don’t always like the idea of just listing books without explanations but a lot of bloggers does that with TTT and it sometimes bugs me because just listing book titles is a bit lacking but then again, TTT is really just about listing books and no one have to explain their choices so maybe that’s how it should be done?
I do on occasion visit all the links just to see how someone tackles the prompt because sometimes the prompt/topic is just so boring. I don’t want to make a list knowing I have no interest in it so once in a while, okay, a lot of times, I would not participate that week or I think up an alternative. After 500 topics, I’m sure ideas gets a bit stale, you know?
I found a lot of book blogs through TTT and I’m grateful for that. Thank you for continuing TTT and Happy birthday to you Jana.
Have a lovely day.
Happy 10th anniversary and happy birthday! How cool.
I’ve been participating off and on since March 2013. I couldn’t believe it had been that long. I’ve definitely meet some new blogging friends as a result and learned about several new books. Here are some of my favorite ones:
Book Cover Trends I Like/Dislike
Characters I Would Want to Be for Halloween
Favorite Book Quotes
And the one that I used this week – Popular TV Shows I’ve Never Watched of Seen a Full Episode of
Thanks for keeping TTT going. It has always been one of my favorites.
Ten years!! That is so amazing. I love how Top Ten Tuesday has brought so many readers together. I have been participating in TTT on this blog for three years now, but I had an old book blog maybe 7 or 8 years ago where I also posted TTTs every single week.
Happy 10th Birthday to TTT and Happy Birthday to you! I’ve been participating in TTT for several years now, since I started blogging regularly in around 2015, I believe, and I’ve loved it. I think this is the meme I have to thank for introducing me to new blogs and bloggers, and it’s really helped me make new friends within the blogging community. Keep up the great work, Jana!
Happy birthday to you too! Thanks for keeping this going, although I haven’t been as good about doing it as I used to be, I want to jump back in. So I thought this was a perfect week to do it!
Happy TTT Birthday! This was the first blogging meme I found, and it was a game-changer, helping me figure out how to diversify my content and find other bloggers!
Great list, and Happy Birthday! I love that you revisited not one list (like I did) but TEN!
Happy birthday!
I love your list! I scheduled my post so didn’t see yours before I wrote mine, but this is such a great way to celebrate TTT’s birthday and 500th post. Maybe for freebie week…
Happy Birthday and TTT anniversary!! I am so thankful for this meme! I’ve been participating since 2013!! I did have a year break here and there with blogging but got back into it again a couple months ago. I absolutely love writing these posts, it gives me a chance to share my voice more on my blog and it’s honestly been an amazing way to meet other book bloggers and gain followers so thank you so much!! One topic I didn’t see in your list that I’d love to do is Top Ten All Time Favorite Book Series.
Congratulations! 10 years is quite a feat! I write my posts early and somehow missed the birthday part. I’ve edited my post just now to include that.
Happy Birthday and congrats for all the TTT success!!
Happy Birthday and happy 10 year anniversary for TTT! I really love the weekly Top Ten Tuesday meme!
Happy Birthday and thank you for continuing this meme. I love it and find so many blogs to follow and too many books to read. Congratulations on your success.
First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
This is only my second time doing TTT and I’m enjoying myself. I’m still going through the blog posts from last week :D
I’m so glad I found this meme! xo
Happy 10th Birthday, TTT! It’s been so much fun to be a part of this fun meme for the last seven years. Thanks for keeping it alive, Jana!

I wanted to do an old topic that was from before I started blogging, so I went way into the TBTB archives and went with “Books I’d Buy Now If I Had A Fully Loaded Gift Card” XD. I started blogging in January of 2017, and I think I’ve been doing TTT pretty much since then? I can’t imagine having been blogging since 2010. I was only 12 then. :P
Happy birthday and happy birthday to TTT! :) I have been posting TTT since February 2013 – the first topic I posted about was what ten books I’d grab if I was abducted by aliens! I think my favorites are the recommendations or favorites of the year or most anticipated books because that’s how I grow my neverending TBR. Although I don’t blog frequently at all on my personal blog, I still love TTT and participate when I can!
Wow, 10 years is amazing!
Hallo, Hallo Jana,
I’ve been struggling for most of the year this Spring to return to hosting TTT topics – for awhile there I had some carved out and ready to share but I never finished the drafts. Today, rather unexpectedly I was inspired to do a special TTT to honour a new book’s release and I’ve decided it was the nudge I needed to resume hosting TTT as it is a meme I’ve loved in the past and want to resume in the present.
Congratulations on the 10th birthday of Top Ten Tuesday!! I can’t believe I’ve nearly been blogging as long as its been round – as I celebrated my 7th Blog’s Blogoversary this past March! Whoa. Time flies!! I haven’t participated in as many as you have as I’ve just posted my 13th – however, I’m proud of each of the entries I’ve made and look forward to continuing the journey with you. I began hosting TTT really early-on as a book blogger but during those first years I was beside myself trying to come up with 10x answers to the topics – it was shortly after I shared that frustration that someone clued me into the fact you don’t have to have 10x every topic and you can even have a few more than 10x too! It was the best news to me and I’ve been trying to buckle down and get my mind to wrap round the topics as they are announced. Sometimes I deviate (like today) but mostly I like the challenge and I enjoy visiting with the community of book bloggers who participate as many are bloggers I consider either friends or bloggers I love to follow and read their blogs as oft as I can!
How about the topic I picked today?
Top Ten Stories which I’ve loved reading involving ghosts, spirits and souls.
I don’t think I’ve seen this one done before!? I’d love to revisit this with a TBR List for TTT!
Happy birthday. Iβve just recently been blogging g again on WordPress. When I first started it was under MichelleBookAddict. I think I used some of your Top Ten lists for my Tuesday posts. Theyβve been pretty fun.
Happy TTT Birthday and Happy Birthday to you, too, Jana! Thanks for keeping TTT going and doing it so well. As a new blogger, it’s one of my very favorite blog posts each week. <3
Happy birthday, and congratulations on 10 years of TTT! As for those unread books… after nearly 10 years, I think if you haven’t read them, you’re not likely to. I probably need to prune a bunch off my own shelves as well.
