This is a pretty exciting topic for this week! I love, love, LOVE discovering new authors! Sadly, I have not read very many new authors this year, but here are the new ones I love! And I am not counting debut authors, because they were new to everyone this year!

I read both of these books this year, and I really like Gayle’s storytelling and her characters. I adored Just One Day, and was majorly hungover after it. Just One Year was quite disappointing, though. I have not read any of her other books because I’m terrified of them. I hate crying!
Starry Nights was one of my favorite books of the year, which puts me in the minority. I think I connected with this book so well because I love art history and art so much. Daisy was able to turn art into magic with this book, and I loved that so much!
J.A.’s writing style is gorgeous, and this new trilogy is SO unique and exciting. I love the world she created, and I love the characters. My favorite thing about these books, though, is the vivid imagery J.A. created for us. SO pretty! The descriptions of the scenery had me swooning.
I know, right?! My first Jessi Kirby book EVER! And I loved it! I love romance novels, and this one had very little romance in it. I still really enjoyed it, though, which means Jessi is awesome. I am so excited to get to more of her books.
I am a big fan of the Heist Society series, even though I’ve only read the first one. Ally’s writing is so perfect that I barely notice it. I know that sounds weird, but it just works for the story. I can’t wait to read more of this series, as well as The Gallagher Girls.
Shadow and Bone & Siege and Storm
Leigh can go from writing deep feelings to crazy battle scenes to detailed descriptions of Grisha powers. If her writing was not so amazing these books would be just another fantasy trilogy.
While I LOVED Unremembered, I also had so much fun getting to know Jessica through the guest post she did for me as part of her blog tour! She is such a nice person.
This book was just so much fun!
I read very little adult romance this year, but I really loved this one!
The Winner’s Curse
This book is amazing! I love Marie’s writing style, and her creative mind.

Great list! I haven’t read books from any of these authors but Leigh Bardugo’s series is definitely on my want-to-read pile (the Russian element piqued my interest ;))

Audrey Wait! was a lot of fun. I liked that book a lot. I haven’t read her new series yet…. I guess I’m just not sure if I like books about spies. Anyway Jessica Brody made my list this week too… and hopefully Jessi Kirby will make my list next year because I need to read In Honor and Golden!

I discovered Ally Carterthis year too and read all 6 of the Gallagher Girl books in 4 days, I think. Her writing is just perfect and I recently bought the Heist Society books too, read the first and will start the second hopefully today :)
There are so many great authors on this list! If you liked Starry Nights, you should definitely read the author’s The Mockingbirds duology. I loved Golden because I related to the main character’s struggle, deciding what to do with her one wild and precious life, more than any other internal conflict I’ve read about all year. And Ally Carter is easily one of my favorite authors because she is such a genius with plot. I hope 2014 brings you as many great new authors as 2013 did!
I feel the same way about Ally Carter. I’ve read Uncommon Criminals too and it was just as good as the first. I can’t wait to read the third one and her other series! :)
I need to catch up on Gayle Forman with these two books! I hear they’re her best! I LOVE Daisy Whitney! She’s so fabulous. Glad WHEN YOU WERE HERE got so much attention, but wish her other books would, too! And Ally Carter is so much fun! I still need to pick up the final Gallagher book! Leigh Bardugo! Yes! Love love LOVE her! Jessica Brody is great, too! I also read Robin Benway’s AUDREY, WAIT! :) Marie Rutkoski, YES! I am so eager to share my love of this book in 2014!!!

I LOVE Leigh Bardugo. After the Grisha trilogy is over, anything by her will be and insta-buy.
I just read Robin Benway this year too but have yet to read Audrey, Wait! I read Also Known as and LOVED it and I’m in the middle of Going Rogue and it’s SO good!
Great list! I really, really want to read Leigh Bardugo’s books, they look incredible! I loved Gayle Forman, and I would definitely recommend If I Stay and Where She Went because they are amazing; but they will probably make you sob like a baby! New Bloglovin follower :) My TTT
