Ok, beloved authors of mine. In this post I will tell you what I would love for you to write for me. Thank you. :)
1. Books about bookish people
2. Some kind of a YA Phantom of the Opera retelling. How cool would that be?
3. Books that take place on a train. Like a really luxurious, opulent train and romance and swoons.
4. More books where traveling is involved. I can’t get enough of them! Road trips, cruises, backpacking. OH backpacking would be fun!
5. I love the idea of New Adult, but I feel like they are pretty much always full of sex or heavy issues. Sometimes we almost-30’s would like to read a light Anna and the French Kiss type of innocent love story with people our age.
6. More survival stories. I love books where the characters get stranded somewhere and have to learn to survive in crazy hard situations.
7. Love stories without insatlove. I want to see some characters who have an epic, slow-burning, heart-stopping romance that takes both of them by surprise. Like best friends turned more? Or enemies who try not to fall in love but do. I want my characters to work at love for once!
8. I want a book that takes place in Egypt. I love Egypt and all that history. I want a really good Egyptian mystery. Buy YA. Study abroad? I dunno…
9. Sharks. Sharks are never in books. Oh, and dinosaurs. I’m thinking Terra Nova or Dinotopia. Could be fun.
10. More YA Christmas books. Because honestly. I’m the queen of Christmas, and am not always in the mood for an adult romance.

I would love books that feature more traveling. If I’ve been to the place mentioned it’s like I’m revisiting through the novel and if I haven’t it’s somewhere that I aspire to travel. I know this is extremely dorky but I’ve traveled to places just so I could visit my favorite places mentioned in my favorite books.
Great list. I am seeing some similar ideas on other lists. I agree that there is too much sex and not enough love/marriage.

I have read a Phantom of the Opera retelling before but I would love to read another! I love Egypt and one with some Egyptian mythology and all that goes along with it would be amazing! Great list!
Ohh I completely agree with your list! Most especially with the sharks, dinosaurs, trains and Egypt! Or a book that combines ALL THE THINGS! Heheh yeah that sounds fun…
I agree with wanting more travelling in books, and I’m in love with the idea of a book set on a train. *u* I’m imagining all the possible scenarios right now, and I just – why hasn’t this happened yet? There’s actually a dystopian movie that’ll (hopefully) come out this year set on a train, and I’m really looking forward to it. It’s called Snowpiercer
I’d love to read about slow-burning romance. I’m not into romance novels much, but maybe that’s because I don’t like to read about insta-love or stories full of sex. I have a historical fiction set in Egypt on my list, their culture and history is really fascinating. And I love survival stories. Dinosaurs are on my list too :D

I agree with the Phantom of the Opera idea plus we need more updated classics like JANE by April Lindner; it’s my favorite retellings of Jane Eyre. I wish there were more another-world traveling books, not world-within-world or parallel worlds. Also more books set in other countries so we readers can travel the globe. And bring back the supernatural, paranormal, and teen romances. Oh yes, and the girl spy books.
Y-E-S TO THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA RETELLING! It would be so cool if they did that only with something more teenager-y as an alternative to the opera.
And if you’re looking for sharks in books, don’t read Jaws by Peter Benchley. It was the novel that inspired the movie Jaws, directed by Steven Spielberg, but the book was so bad and cringe-worthy that the movie was a million times better.
I totally agree with your thoughts on NA. They seem to be filled with shirtless hugging! And most of the covers are some sort of variation on the nakedness that will ensue.
Slow burning love is the best! Those are the ones that leave me craving more, always! ;)
Train reads would be fun! I like the idea of stories taking place in enclosed spaces. A train would give people enough room to move around while still limiting the setting. Nice thought.

I would love to read a YA Phantom of the Opera retelling. I’m kinda obsessed with both the story and the musical. And also hell yes to books that take place in Egypt. I’ve always been so interested in Ancient Egypt. :D

Oh wow, I love all those ideas! (And a major yes to Dinotopia! I loved those books as a kid, the original and the chapter book spin-offs. I still have most of them on my shelf.)
And nice wording on #5. That’s exactly how I’ve felt about New Adult. I like the idea of writing for/about that age group, but let’s expand the genres used.

I totally support books about bookish people. And trains are just plain cool. I rode Amtrak from California to Pennsylvania and it was awesome.

5! Yes! I’m totally with you on that. And listed it on my own TTT. I think NA has SUCH potential for all sorts of genres instead of the sexytimes. I like sexytimes, don’t get me wrong, but NA is being wrongly misjudged because that’s all that’s coming out. I’m also all for more travel books and more Christmasness :)
