I’m very excited to announce the second annual Magic, Myth, & Mischief blog event, which Bonnie from A Backwards Story and I are hosting again this fall!
Magic, Myth, & Mischief will take place during the entire month of September, and it’s going to be a lot of fun! The entire month will center around fairy tales and mythological retellings, but we’ll also spotlight retellings of favorite classic novels and books featuring lore about mythical beasts and creatures such as mermaids, dragons, and fae!
We’d love for you to join in the fun! Would you like to write a guest post about any aspect of this topic? Would you like to write a book review for us to host for you? Are you an author with a book that fits the event’s parameters and want to talk about it? We want you!
Even if you can’t participate, we’d love your help spreading the word! I made a button for the event that you’re free to use on social media or on your own websites. You can also help us by tweeting out links to our posts. We’d truly appreciate the publicity, plus you’ll get extra entries in our giveaway if you share now and throughout the entire month! :)
Official event hashtag: #magicmythmischief
We will also be putting on an Instagram photo challenge that we’d love for you to participate in with us! Here’s the list of prompts so you can start planning early. Interpret these prompts as loosely/narrowly as you’d like. Be creative!

Oooh, this sounds amazing!! I have a few ideas…let me think on them for a little while. Any books you’re particularly hoping will be reviewed or covered in some way?
Yay!! I can’t wait to hear your ideas! I’m not focused on any specific books, just those that fit the parameters of the event! I’ll be reviewing old and new releases. I’m mostly interested in featuring ones that people absolutely love, or are extremely excited about.
I’ll be keeping an eye out for your email! :)
This looks fun! I just finished up The Merry Spinster: Tales of Everyday Horror by Mallory Ortberg and loved it! I love all the mythical stuff. So I may have to join up. Yay!
Woohoo! I hope you decide to join us!
This sounds wonderful! I’d love to write a guest post or book review for you!
I would LOVE that! I just added a Google form to this post that you can fill out, or feel free to email me and I’ll get you on my schedule!

My local library just posted a round- up of some re-tellings! https://kcls.bibliocommons.com/list/share/218323575_kclssocialmedia/1239913737_fairytales_retold
This sounds like so much fun! How long will you be taking sign-ups? I’d like to participate, but I need to think for a bit about what to post! :)
I won’t close sign-ups until the end of September, really. I always have room for more people. :) I would love to have you!
