Welcome to another TTT! This week’s topic is on goals for 2026! I’m not one of those “new year, new me” kind of people. I am great just the way I am. I do see every year as a new beginning, though, and I find myself thinking of things I’d like to accomplish. Some of these goals are easy and some will most likely take a lifetime. The point is never giving up on the things I hope for! So today I’m sharing five bookish goals and five personal goals for 2026.
Bookish Goals
1. Read at least a book a week, which means 52 books this year.
2. Read more books from my actual bookshelves. I’m running out of room and need to do a massive cull, so I need to read my physical books and not always reach for my Kindle.
3. Work on my Netgalley ratio! I know that this kind of competes with my previous goal, but my ratio is abysmal and I want to improve that.
4. Write more reviews, even if they’re tiny! I did really well with this last year, but I didn’t write as many reviews as I wanted so I’d like to do even better with this this year.
5. Prioritize the books I’m most excited about no matter when they come/came out. I don’t need to read what’s treanding or what’s about to release. I need to read what I want!
Personal Goals
1. Go outside more. I am dangerously (not kidding) Vitamin D deficient and I need some sun! I know it’ll help my anxiety, too.
2. Move more. I deal with a lot of chronic pain, and walking should help.
3. Eat less sugar. I want to cut down on inflammation and strengthen my immune system.
4. Focus more on the things I’m grateful for.
5. Learn how to not be anxious about the things I can’t control. No clue how to do this. Mindfulness? Meditation? I am such an anxious person, and I’d like to feel more in control of my mind even if I can’t control everything else.
What are you hoping to accomplish this year, bookish or not?

Wishing you all the best on your 2026 goals!! I hope you find ways to make them all work for you and that pesky anxiety goes away too!
Great goals. Good luck with them. Have a great week!
Some great goals, several of which I share, I wish you luck with them!
They are great goals! I don’t set a lot of goals. With 2 kids I just take things day by day. Anxiety is a big thing for me too. With the world the way it is I doubt that it will go away any time soon 😂
Good luck with your goals!
These are all great goals. I deal with chronic pain as well, so I especially relate to your personal goals. As for the anxiety, I suffered my entire life, trying all sorts of non-medical strategies. At the age of 52 (I’m 62 now), I finally sought medical help. I now take an SSRI. It has improved my quality of life so much. I kicked myself for having waited so long.
Good luck with your goals for this year. I totally feel you on the need to go out and get more Vitamin D and fit in more walks/ movement. I really hope you manage to make that time for yourself.
Nice set of goals! I try to read what I really want to read to no matter if it’s trending. Sometimes I find myself avoiding trending books but still really wanting to read them as well. I guess I’m waiting for the hype to die a bit so I don’t go in with super high expectations! I feel like I need to try to let go of the things I can’t control myself. They tend to linger with me and either stress me out or just make me miserable. So that’s something I probably need to work on too!
Here’s my Tuesday post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
Great goals! I also need to do something about my shelves.
Regarding anxiety, if you don’t already do this, try morning pages (a brain dump in the morning). My therapist has also had me write down every time I’m angry, what made me angry, and why. The exercise of just writing it down was incredibly helpful. I don’t see why it wouldn’t work for anxiety too.
Good luck with all your goals!
you have fabulous goals here!
Prioritizing books you really are excited about makes a big difference. You will also read faster and more!
And good luck on all your personal goals, they are fantastic as well. I read that everyone in the US living North of Georgia shold take Vitamin D supplements. We really don’t get enough naturally, and Vitamin D insuffiency is connected to so many diseases. Here are my goals for this year
I love these goals! I find that just letting go of the idea that we *can* control everything is a great first step. Yoga and daily movement and getting outside also help, which are already on your list! <3
I’m sorry if you hear this all the time and I’m just piling on, but have you tried one of those sun lights? I have depression all year round, but it gets especially bad in the winter since I live in a place that has dreary skies this time of year. My partner got me a light a few years ago, and I’m not joking, my vitamin D levels went way up. Unfortunately, that doesn’t fully fix the anxiety and depression issues, but it does help. I slowly work my way up to an hour once the dull weather hits, and cap myself at one hour. I do it while reading or writing my reviews.
Regardless, nature also helps so I hope you find time to get outside more.
Good luck with your goals, Jana. Have you considered a standing desk? I bought one for when I move my office downstairs. I am hoping that will help when I am at my desk for too long. Thanks for sharing.
I have been prioritizing the books on my shelves the last few years as well. I have also been withdrawing from all the review/ARC teams because it starts to feel like pressure, and they will always be there later. I got rid of over 150 books last year (fiction and nonfiction). I went through and got rid of what I knew I wouldn’t read, and as I finished books, if I knew I wasn’t going to read them again, got rid of them. It adds up! I got my Net Galley ratio to 100% and now I only rarely request books…I just overdid it for so long. Your personal goals do sound great. You are right, getting outside and walking will help reduce the inflammation in your body, as will getting vitamin D, and getting rid of processed sugar. Also, if you do the ready made meals, do ones with less processing/ingredients, it will help. I recently discovered Kevin’s natural foods and it so helpful to me! We literally make 90% of our foods, not eating packaged meals at all, so this is a game changer because I can eat some of it, and it is all “clean” foods. I don’t have great advice on the anxiety part, but find the things you CAN control, and control the heck out of them. You already know that trying not to fixate on the issues, and finding things to distract does help. I hope you have a great week!
I want to get out and walk more, too! I don’t know if it will help you, but I find that if I focus on my surroundings during outdoor walks (instead of trying to listen to an audiobook, for example), it helps calm my anxiety.
Such good goals! I didn’t set official goals for myself, but, like you, I gave up sweets to reduce inflammation and (hopefully) boost my immune system. Instead of going on an all-out diet, I’m just making small changes to my eating habits. I saw another commenter recommended a sun light, and I have to say, mine broke a few weeks ago, and I think I have noticed a difference! I would sit and read with the light on for 30 minutes every morning. If the lamp I have can’t be repaired, I’m definitely buying a new one.
Anxiety is a tough one! I have high blood pressure now, too, but I don’t want to add more medication, so I do yoga, take walks, and use the FitBit app for stress relief.
I have a lot of the same goals you do. My shelves are also desperately in need of culling and reorganizing. “Abysmal” is how I describe my NetGalley ratio as well ;) Good luck with all your goals!
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
