Top Ten Books with Handwriting on the Cover

Posted June 8, 2026 by Jana in Top Ten Tuesday / 18 Comments

Welcome to another TTT! This week’s topic is: Books with Handwriting on the Cover (or fonts that look like handwriting). The handwriting can be titles, subtitles, covers with letters or mail on them, etc. I love a good handwriting font, so this was fun for me! I gave priority to the books I found whee the characters are actively writing the titles. I was surprised I could find a few! My picks are a mix of books I’ve read (marked by asterisks) and hope to read.

The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer & Annie Barrows
The Star-Crossed Sisters of Tuscany by Lori Nelson Spielman
Where the Lost Wander by Amy Harmon*
The Vanishing of Josephine Reynolds by Jennifer Moorman
The Happy Life of Isadora Bentley by Courtney Walsh
Twice Shy by Sarah Hogle*
Heidi’s Guide to Four Letter Words by Tara Sivec & Andi Arndt*
The Make-Up Test by Jenny L. Howe
More than Friends by Denise Hunter
Unlikely Story by Ali Rosen

Do you like fonts that look like handwriting?

It sounds lovely! I think I need to prioritize it the next time I’m in the mood for a good historical fiction. :)

Good to know! I never see anyone talking about these books, so I’m happy to know they’re good! Makes me more excited to read them. :)

  2. I didn’t have the topics caught up for the summer, so didn’t realize this was the topic this week and I did an older topic. But I will have to come back and do this another time because I love this! You have a couple on your list I’ve read, Twice Shy, and Heidi’s Guide to Four Letter Words.

  3. I’m a handwriting nerd, so I love seeing those sorts of calligraphic fonts on books. It will definitely make me pick up the book and check the back cover….which I’ve done with Guernsey about 18 times now (and have yet to read it). Great cover picks!
