Top Ten Books I HAD TO BUY but Still Have Not Read

Posted March 19, 2013 by Jana in Top Ten Tuesday / 18 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted over at the other blog I write for, The Broke and the Bookish.
I think we’re probably all guilty of impulse book buys or the good ‘ole “I must have this book because I hear it is exciting/swoonworthy/romantic/full of all the feels/amazing/the best book ever” syndrome. I know many of you, my fellow bloggers and readers, have been the reason FOR these purchases of mine (I love you for it, you know.). Please don’t hate me when you find out how much I HAVEN’T read.I won’t even comment on these, because pretty much all I could say is, “I KNOW GUYS, I’m sorry. Forgive me. I will read it. I will read it now.” I hope to get to all of these this summer. :)
Divergent by Veronica Roth
Shatter Me by Tahereh Mafi
Meant to Be by Lauren Morill
Crossed and Reached by Allie Condie
Every Day by David Levithan
13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson
The Lonely Hearts Club by Elizabeth Eulberg
Rebecca by Daphne Du Maurier
Paper Towns by John Green
So, can anyone make me feel better?
Which of these are still in your TBR pile?

Top Ten Auto-Buy Authors

Posted February 26, 2013 by Jana in Top Ten Tuesday / 5 Comments

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday talks about those authors we will follow to the ends of the Earth. Or at least buy all their books without question. This could be tricky! I’m posting their names, and then the books they wrote that made me put them on my auto-buy list in parentheses.

Stephanie Perkins (Anna and the French Kiss, Lola and the Boy Next Door)
Lauren Oliver (Delirium Trilogy)
Anna Banks (Of Poseidon, Degrees of Wrong)
Tamara Ireland Stone (Time Between Us)
Tracey Garvis-Graves (On the Island)
Lynn Kurland (ALL her time travel romances are amazing)
Mary Higgins-Clark (I grew up reading her mysteries, and have loved all but one of them.)<
Stephenie Meyer (Twilight, The Host)
Syrie James (Nocturne; Dracula, My Love)
Marissa Meyer (Cinder, Scarlet)

So, which authors are on your auto-buy list?

Seeing as how love is the theme of the month, today’s Top Ten Tuesday allows me to gush and fangirl over my favorite, most swoon-worthy love stories! So, what are some of your favorite romances? I can NEVER get enough love stories, so shoot me some links to visit or recommendations, and I’ll be a happy girl!

Merry Christmas! (+ My Top 10 Favorite things About Christmas)

Posted December 25, 2012 by Jana in Top Ten Tuesday / 11 Comments

Merry Christmas, everyone! I just wanted to thank all of you for tuning in this month for my Bookish Little Christmas event! And thanks to my author and blogger friends for writing guest posts, and to the publishers for giving me some Christmas books to review. I definitely had a fun time, and I hope you did too! If you missed any of my posts, go check out the schedule of events.

I hope you all enjoy your day with family and friends. Eat lots, give, receive, and report back to me with a huge list of books you got! I know I’ll be busy with all of mine. Now that my Christmas event has come to an end, I’ll be posting sporadically for the rest of the year. It’s been a super busy month, and I need a break! I’ve still got a post or two up my sleeve, but I’ll be back in full swing in 2013!

Today is Tuesday! I’m posting my top ten favorite things about Christmas (yeah, not so bookish… but seriously.).
(TTT at The Broke and the Bookish is a freebie for today.)

1. The decorations. My entire house looks like Santa’s workshop exploded. There’s lighted villages, a jam-packed Christmas tree, nativities, and poinsettias everywhere. Plus, there’s like a million colored lights and snowflakes outside.

2. The music. I am such a sucker for Christmas music! It’s all I listen to from Thanksgiving day on.

3. The smells. I love the smell of Christmas trees, gingerbread, sugar cookies, hot chocolate, sparkling grape juice, and Christmas dinner cooking in the kitchen.

4. Giving to others. I start Christmas shopping in July! I love spending hours and hours trying to figure out what my friends and family would get giddy over.

5. Baking. I love making elaborate Christmas cookies!

6. Everyone is so much nicer and happier.

7. The snow. I LOVE SNOW.

8. The books! I love Christmas books, but especially the ones I grew up reading. We have a huge basket that we bring out every year full of Christmas picture books. I love pulling out my favorites and reading them by the fire.

9. Red and green. I wear so much red and green during the Christmas season. I paint my nails, I have this huge collection of Christmas jewelry, and we can’t forget my bright red patent leather pumps.

10. Time off work! I love having time off to spend with my family. :)

What do you love about Christmas? And if you don’t celebrate Christmas, do you celebrate another holiday? Tell me about it, and have a wonderful day!
