Hello! It’s Sunday night, and I’m writing this post two days into my road trip across the USA (from Utah to Florida). Right now, I’m in Topeka, Kansas at a Comfort Suites.

Anyway, there is no guarantee that I will have wi-fi in Paducah, Kentucky tomorrow night so I thought I’d be safe and write my post up tonight. Also, because I’m in the hotel I don’t really have time to make a pretty amazing TTT graphic. So, it’ll just be a list today. :(

This was actually a really hard topic for me, because so many of the books I read are already duets or trilogies. Sometimes I just miss the characters, though, so that’s what I will mostly be focusing on today.

Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins
I know we get a little bit of these two in Lola, but I want a whole other book for them! I love those two, and I want to know where things went after the story we got to read ended.

Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan
I just really love Dash and Lily. And I love books set in NYC. I’d love to see what happened with their relationship, and if they continued with the red notebook of tasks. :)

Nocturne by Syrie James
The ending left SO much more to be desired. Syrie even told me herself that Michael and Nicole’s story is far from over. We only got to see them for three days! I want more!

The Summer My Life Began by Shannon Greenland
I just love the family in this book, and the setting. I want to spend another summer there!

An extra book in the Twilight series by Stephanie Meyer
I’d really like to see what happens with Jacob and Reneesme.

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith
I just love Oliver…

The Host by Stephenie Meyer
It needs a sequel, and Stephenie told us she was going to write one! So come on, already!

Wanderlove by Kirsten Hubbard
I want to travel more with Bria and Rowan!

Unbreak My Heart by Melissa C. Walker
I love Red, and I love Clementine’s family! I want to see them again!

If I see any of these words on a book’s cover, in its summary, or mentioned in reviews from reputable sources, I get scared and usually run away!

Heartbreaking: Seriously. I read to escape from reality, not get heartbroken.

Erotic: 50 Shades of Ick.

Cancer: I just can’t guys! I get toooooo sad!

Animal Violence/Death: You hurt/kill an animal, and I’ll punch you in the throat and burn your book.

Ugly Tears: See my reason for heartbreaking.

Abuse: You hurt my peeps, and I’ll punch you in the throat.

Cheating: Cheating as a plot line just sucks. I don’t condone cheaters, so why promote a book about them? Plain and simple.

Zombie: I don’t understand the attraction. They are ugly and smell like death.

New Adult: I have yet to find a NA book I like/am interested in. For some reason, authors portray people in this age group as heartbroken sex maniacs. Anyone else noticed this? Almost every summary talks about a character with a sad/dark past who finds someone who lights their fire. It’s just not my thing. PLEASE show me a YA that does not do this.

Angels/Fallen Angels: I’ve come to the conclusion that I just do not like books about angels. I just don’t.

I also hate it when books are compared to other books I like. Like, how many books out there say they are like The Hunger Games? I LOVE that book, and I’ll pretty much be disappointed by anything that is “just like it”.

 

So, tell me what you’re thinking! Agree? Disagree? Do you know of any books that I just HAVE to read despite my feelings? I wanna know!

So, today we get to talk all about books and their movie adaptations. The actual topic deals with best or worst book to movie adaptations, but since I’ve seen a ton of movies based on books I haven’t read… and read a ton of books that were made into movies I haven’t seen… I thought I’d switch it up a little to suit my needs. My first 5 choices are books I’ve decided I need to read because of the movie. My second 5 choices are movies I need to watch because I read the book.

So, today’s the day where I get to confess my deepest bookish confessions relating to books and why I get intimidated by them. That was a long sentence. Anyway, I’ve got big dreams, my friends. Big, big dreams. I want to read ALL THE BOOKS, but at the same time some of them really scare me. And that’s sad, because I know many of you love a couple of the books I’m about to mention!

Because They’re Classics…

Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen
I’ve seen the movie adaptations, and loved them. I want to read this SO bad, but I’m scared of it! I know the language will take some getting used to, but I’m smart! This should be no biggie.

The Thorn Birds by Colleen McCullough
Again, I’ve seen the film adaptation. Maybe the book has a bunch of boring details the film left out? Buck up, Jana. It’s just a book.

North and South by Elizabeth Gaskell
What if I only love this because Richard Armitage plays Mr. Thornton????!!!
