Top Ten Most Anticipated Releases For the Rest of 2015

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted over at the other blog I write for, The Broke and the Bookish.

How can I possibly pick only 10!? I am so excited for so many books! But honestly, when am I not? Perhaps this will be easier than if you asked me in January to narrow things down to 10 for the year instead of 10 over 6 months. So whatever. I’m rambling. Here are the beauties I can’t wait for!

2015Releases

Winter by Marissa Meyer
This really needs no explanation, does it? I’m so excited to read the conclusion of The Lunar Chronicles, but also super sad to see it end. But I LOVE this series, so I think it’s more sweet than bitter!

Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo
More Grisha!! I can’t wait!

Ten Thousand Skies Above You by Claudia Gray
I really loved A Thousand Pieces of You, and can’t wait to see where the next book goes.

The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson
It’s no secret that I loved The Kiss of Deception. It blew my mind. It was amazing. I’ve got a galley of THoB, and I have no idea why I have not read it yet! But you can bet I’ll be starting it soon!

Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff
I’m all about planet invasions and plagues and conspiracies! This sounds great! And I loved Amie’s These Broken Stars, obviously.

Queen of Shadows by Sarah J. Maas
Again, do I need to explain? I will read anything this woman writes. SUPER excited for this one!

Some Kind of Wonderful by Sarah Morgan
I really love Sarah’s romantic contemporaries, and can’t wait for more! I’m getting more into adult fiction than ever before, so I’m having fun sneaking them in around my YA picks.

Until We Meet Again by Renee Collins
“They exist in two different centuries, but their love defies time.” GIVE IT TO ME.

My Secret to Tell by Natalie D. Richards
Another mystery!!!! I have been all over YA thrillers/mysteries right now, so bring it on, Natalie.

Red Girl, Blue Boy by Lauren Baratz-Logsted
I adore Bloomsbury’s If Only… series, and this one sounds so cute! Her mom and his dad are running for President. Should be fun!

Are you excited for any of these titles? Which ones did I miss? Let me know! And link me to your TTT so I can check out what you’re waiting on!

Top Ten Characters I Wish Would Get Their Own Book

Posted May 19, 2015 by Jana in Top Ten Tuesday / 7 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted over at the other blog I write for, The Broke and the Bookish.

It’s freebie day, and I’m excited because I really wanted to do this topic back when it was on the schedule, and I ran out of time! So now’s my chance!

I have adored some of the minor and semi-major characters in the books I’ve read, and would love to see them get their own books so I can learn their stories and their thoughts. Here are my choices, although it’s hard to narrow it down to just 10!

1. Captain Carswell Thorne from The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer
He kind of got his own book (ish) in Cress because he’s Cress’s love interest… but I seriously just want a full-length novel (I know he has a novella) of his life before he joined the Cinder bandwagon. He’s full of so much snark and sarcasm. I just know his one-liners will be referenced forever.

2. Gale Hawthorne from The Hunger Games trilogy by Suzanne Collins
I might be the only person who is on team Gale… I’m sorry, but I really do not like Peeta. At all. And I wanted Gale to find love!!!! So he needs his own book and his own love story.

3. Nikolai from The Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo
I don’t think we need much of an explanation here. I LOVED him so much. Can I please read a book alllllllll about him? Please?

4. The Darkling from The Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo
I dunno. Maybe I like bad boys. But I want his story! We got tiny pieces of it, but I want to know him better and why he became who he became.

5. Captain Chaol from the Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas
Maybe I like captains?

6. Lucien from A Court of Thorns and Roses by Sarah J. Maas
I think I’m beginning to see a trend here… I’m a fan of snarky, swoony guys. I loved Lucien! He’s got the best sense of humor, and he’s so loyal. I’d love it if he was the start of his own book.

7. Perry’s nephew, Talon, from Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi
Wouldn’t it be cool to have a book from not-so-young-anymore-Talon’s point of view now that they have made it to the Still Blue? Second generation spin-off series, no? Or we could learn about what his life was like during the time he was kidnapped.

8. Reneesme from The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer
Seriously. I’d devour this.

9. Edward from The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer.
We were promised this, dangit!

10. Roar from the Under the Never Sky trilogy by Veronica Rossi
Roar is my love. I want him to find happiness!

Top Ten Authors I’ve Only Read One Book From But NEED to Read More

Posted January 20, 2015 by Jana in Top Ten Tuesday / 16 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted over at the other blog I write for, The Broke and the Bookish.

This week is a freebie, and I missed this one a few months ago. So, we’re talking about authors we like, but haven’t been able to get enough of them yet! I’m pretty bad at finding an author and then reading a TON of books by them. I love exploring and promoting new authors, so I’ve read a ton of books by a ton of different authors. Many of them have released new books and I just haven’t had time to grab them yet!

Jennifer L. Armentrout
I read Don’t Look Back, and loved it! Now I want to read more from JLA! I’m thinking of starting the Lux series. Or is there another I should read instead?

Tessa Dare
I thought Romancing the Duke was really cute, and I would love to read more from Tessa! I’ve got Say Yes to the Marquess, which is the second book in the Castles Ever After series, but I’ve also got A Night to Surrender, and Surrender of a Siren. Where do I begin with these!? Or, does she have any book you love even more that I should get?

John Green
I actually have not read a full-length novel from John Green yet, but I want to! I really liked his short story in the Let It Snow anthology, and just don’t know where to go now. I hate crying, and I hate reading sad books… are any of his not tear-jerkers?

Abigail Haas
Dangerous Girls was insane and intense! I loved it! Now I’m wanting to read Dangerous Boys. Is it as good? I’m worried I won’t love it as much.

Kirsten Hubbard
Wanderlove is one of my favorite books ever, and I want Kirsten to write more like it! Like Mandarin does not sound like my kind of book, and her new book coming out this year called Watch the Sky is a middle grade… so I don’t know what to do. She got a thriller called Cloudforest coming out in 2016 that sounds good. I might just have to wait until then.

Sophie Kinsella
I don’t even know where to begin with Sophie. I really liked I’ve Got Your Number. I think I own the entire shopaholic series, but there’s others of hers I hear more about like Remember Me? and The Undomestic Goddess. Thoughts?

J.K. Rowling
This is kind of a no-brainer. I read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone last year and really want to finish the series this year. We’ll see if I have time!

Mary E. Pearson
I LOVED The Kiss of Deception sooooo much, and I own the Jenna Fox Chronicles, which I’m pretty excited about. We’ll see if I get to it before The Heart of Betrayal comes out, which I will stop the world for.

Marie Rutkoski
Ahhhh… The Winner’s Curse was glorious! It was super good, and I’ve got an ARC of The Winner’s Crime staring at me as we speak. But I also have The Shadow Society, which sounds pretty cool. How are her other books?

Anna Scarlet
This is more of a plea than a decree because Anna Scarlet has only written one book, Degrees of Wrong, which I loved. I want more, whether it be a sequel or a new standalone. I don’t care. But I loved it! And did you know Anna Scarlet is Anna Banks? All the more reason for her to write another adult novel. :D

Top Ten Books I Hope Santa Brings Me Tomorrow Night

Posted December 23, 2014 by Jana in Top Ten Tuesday / 6 Comments

Top Ten Tuesday is hosted over at the other blog I write for, The Broke and the Bookish.

I am super excited that Christmas is just a couple days away! At the same time, I’m sad it’s almost over. Does anyone else experience the yearly post-Christmas letdown? BLAH. We’re not even going to get into that today! Santa is coming to town tomorrow night, and I would just LOVE it if he had these books in his bag for me! Some of these are ARCs, but I know Santa can do anything he wants!

1. From Scotland with Love by Katie Fforde
This is a super cute-sounding New Year’s romance, and I’d love to read it after Christmas!

2. Impulse by Vanessa Garden
I LOVED the first book in this series, Captivate, and I’m so sad that it is not being released here in the USA. Shipping costs, like, .50 less than the book itself. If Santa could bring it I wouldn’t have to pay shipping! Hehe.

3. First Time in Forever by Sarah Morgan
It’s a new Sarah Morgan series!

4. Mistletoe on Main Street by Olivia Miles
It’s a Christmas book, yes… and I might be tired of them by this point… but I don’t care. This sounds so cute.

5. Rebellion by J.A. Souders
I can’t WAIT for the final book in this trilogy!

6. Forget Me K.A. Harrington
I need a good psychological thriller, and this one has some romance in it!

7. The Falconer by Elizabeth May
Fantasy in Scotland! SO wanting this one.

8. My Summer Roommate by Bridie Hall
I need a cute, warm contemporary for these cold months!

9. Taste Test by Kelly Fiore
I loved Just Like the Movies, and this sounds so cute!

10. The Heart of Betrayal by Mary E. Pearson
GIVEITTOME!!!! I can’t WAIT!

So, let’s chat! What would you like Santa to bring you tomorrow night?
Have you read any of my wishlist books?
