Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

How it works:

I assign each Tuesday a topic and then post my top ten list that fits that topic. You’re more than welcome to join me and create your own top ten (or 2, 5, 20, etc.) list as well. Feel free to put a unique spin on the topic to make it work for you! Please link back to That Artsy Reader Girl in your own post so that others know where to find more information.

You’ll find the schedule of upcoming TTT topics below so you can plan ahead. I’ll post a Linky here on the blog each week so you can link up your post (if you want). If you don’t have a blog, post your picks in the comment section below! Or if you prefer Insta, YouTube, Tiktok, etc. then feel free to link to your content there! Have tons of fun talking books and getting to know your fellow bloggers!

NOTE: If a weekly topic is listed as a “freebie”, you are invited to come up with your own topic. Sometimes I will give the freebie topic a theme, such as “love”, a season, or an upcoming holiday. That just means that you can come up with any topic you want that fits under that umbrella.

You’re more than welcome to use the Top Ten Tuesday image I designed above (or any of my older/seasonal ones), or make your own that fits your site’s theme.

Upcoming Top Ten Tuesday Topics:

July 21: Books That Live in My Head Rent-Free (submitted by Emma @ damppebbles.com)
July 28: Books I HAD to Have Immediately but Still Haven’t Read (this is a throwback topic from 2022)
August 4: Cover Freebie (Pick any topic related to book covers. You can make up your own topic or pick one from the list of previous ones!)
August 11: Books I Was Reading On This Day Over the Last Ten Years (Stolen from Anne @ HeadFullofBooks) (This might be tricky if you don’t use a reading tracker like Goodreads, but the idea is to share what you were reading on August 11th of 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022, 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, and 2016. If you have no idea, pick a book you loved that you read at any time during each of the last ten years. And if you still have no idea, pick a book you loved that was published during each of the last ten years. Make this work for you!)
August 18: Book Series I Want to Catch Up On (or series you’d like to start)
August 25: Bookish Places I’ve Visited (Share all the cool places you’ve been that are bookish or tied to books! This includes neat libraries, book stores, places featured in books, places inspired by books, author homes/places they’ve stayed, etc. You can also share your bucket list of the bookish places you’d like to visit someday.) (submitted by Susan @Bloggin’ ’bout Books)
September 1: Books With Nationalities In The Title (e.g. The French Lieutenant’s Woman, Mexican Gothic, An American Mariage, etc.) (submitted by Cathy @WhatCathyReadNext)
September 8: Indie Freebie (This topic encompasses a lot: your favorite indie bookstores, indie books, indie authors, indie publishers/presses, indie books on your to-read list, indie authors I read before they became traditionally published, etc.) (submitted by @dark.shelf.of.wonders and Books Are The New Black)
September 15: Authors I’ve Met
September 22: Books on My Fall 2026 To-Read List (or Spring if you live in the Southern Hemisphere)
September 29: Fall-Themed Freebie (or Spring if you live in the Southern Hemisphere)

  1. Would love to join this, as I have been reading the posts from other bloggers for years now for Top Ten Tuesday. I may not be able to do every prompt but I look forward to getting some done (at least one a month) to change things up on Bookluvrs Haven.

    Thank you for hosting!

    • Jana

TTT is wonderful, and such a fun way to get to know other bloggers. :) I hope you do join the fun! It’s totally fine if you don’t do each prompt. Whatever works best for you. Hope to see you soon! :)

    • Jana

Hi Lili! Nice to meet you too! I’m so glad you enjoy TTT, and I’m looking forward to chatting with you soon! :)

    • Jana

I’m so glad you love TTT. I’m so happy that I get to keep running it even though we’re shutting down TB&TB.

    • Jana

When I came up with the topic I was thinking of ones from existing books, but you can spin it and make up your own as well!

  2. Ahhh congrats on adopting Top Ten Tuesday! I look forward to continuing participating in the meme, and I love the new header that you made!

  3. Glad you are continuing the fun. I just went to get a jump start on this weeks and saw it was closed and got sad until I read further and saw the new home! Yay. Are you creating your own/new icon?

    • Jana

I’m excited to be continuing things! Yes, my new TTT icon is the yellow, orange, and coral one at the top of this post. Anyone is free (and encouraged) to use it! :)

    • Jana

We all just decided that our lives had gotten too busy and we were all going in so many different directions that it was time. It was getting harder and harder to connect and post regularly. :)

  4. I’ve just discovered this and I’m already excited :D I’ve been looking for some new ideas for blog posts and I definitely love a list! I hope I can join in the fun :)

    • Jana

I hope you join us! It’s definitely a lot of fun, and is a wonderful way to make new friends and gain exposure to your own blog. :)

  5. Kat

I’ve been doing TTT for the past few weeks and it’s been so much fun! So glad it’s continuing and loved doing the theme for this week.

  6. Mai

I just started a new blog and was thinking what meme to participate in. Settled on TTT! Very excited to see what others will post next week…. c:

    • Jana

You make up your own topic that fits the theme of “love”. So you can do anything that has to do with love in honor of Valentine’s Day: favorite romance novels, favorite kissing scenes, favorite anti-love books, favorite hate to love stories, favorite LGBTQ books, book boyfriends/girlfriends, etc. Make sense? :)

  7. This looks like so much fun! I shall definitely be joining in on this awesomeness. I can’t wait for next Tuesday! (My blog: chaptersafterchapters.wordpress.com)

    • Jana

Welcome to TTT! I’m glad you’ve joined the fun. :) Can’t wait to see more posts from you in the future!

  8. I’m brand new to book blogging so I’ve been searching for some weekly memes to start dabbling in. I think I’ve found the one! Top Ten Tuesday sounds like so much fun! The topics are great and I’m looking forward to participating!

    • Jana

I’m so glad you’ve found a meme that feels like home! I hope you have fun participating each week, and I’m glad you like the topics. :)

    • Jana

Hi Colleen! Yes, anyone is welcome to join in at any point! I’m so excited you’d like to join us. :)

  9. Looks very fun! Also I’m really bad at coming up with topics to do for my book blog so this makes it a lot easier for me to write more on my blog. I will be joining this! Can’t wait to start, even though its super late haha :)

    • Jana

I hope you have fun! Make sure you link up each week so you get more blog traffic. :)

And it’s never too late! We’ve been doing this for 8 years now, and people come and go all the time. :)

    • Jana

Hi! Each week you’ll see the Linky show up on the actual Top Ten Tuesday post here on my blog. You can submit your post’s link there. :)

  10. I actually had a lot of books to talk about for this topic. The Hunger Games was a finished series for me, but it was on the DNF list for so long until last year. Thanks for this week’s topic!

  11. Oiee, I found the TTT in a Brazilian blog and I loved the initiative, I’m going to start publishing my lists tomorrow and I hope to be able to continue faithfully. Great initiative, I’ve already read your blog kisses from Brazil ♥

    • Jana

I’m so glad you’re planning to participate in the fun! I’ll look forward to seeing your posts. :)

    • Jana

Hi Amanda! I’m so glad you’d like to join us! Yes, all you do is link back to my site when you post each week. Also, every Tuesday when I post my own response to that week’s prompt, my post will include a Linky at the bottom so you can quickly add a link to yours! Then people can come visit you. :)

  12. Hi Jana, I’m loving doing the posts, thank you for all your awesome prompts – just one question though, am I right in thinking August 26th isn’t a Tuesday?

  13. Happy to be joining TTT on my blog! I have always enjoyed other bloggers TTT content and hope I can find even more great people in the bookish community!

  14. Hi Jana, I just wanted to check for next week’s prompt, is it the latest 10 books added to the TBR pile on my actual physical shelves or the wishlist of books I want to read but need to buy first?

    • Jana

Hello! Sorry for my delayed response. I had stomach flu all last week. The beauty of TTT is that you can interpret the prompt however you want to! Either of the interpretations you mentioned would have been perfectly fine for today’s post. I chose the 10 most recent additions to my Goodreads to-read list, whether I owned them already or not. :)

  15. Hi! You could do a TTT on “books that correspond to your Hogwart House” or something of the kind! :) I think it could be very fun but most importantly interesting to see everyone’s recommendations :)

  16. Sia

Hello! I’d like to join this marvellous weekly thing :D I can’t promise I’ll manage it EVERY week, but I’ve enjoyed it on so many of my favourite blogs that now that I have one of my own, I want to try it too! Do I need to do anything more formal than saying so here (other than linking back to this post in my TTT posts?)

    • Jana

If a weekly topic is listed as a “freebie”, you are invited to come up with your own topic. Sometimes I will give your topic a theme, such as “love”, a season, or an upcoming holiday. That just means that you can come up with any topic you want that fits under that umbrella. :)

  17. Looking forward in participating in top 10 tuesdays! started book blogging now and this is one of the posts I want to do. Thank you for making these Jana!

  18. Love the idea of top ten tuesday, so many good prompts to choose from. Thanks for sharing! I’ll try and get involved with some of these over on my blog:)

    • Jana

Hi Christine! If you’d like to link up to my weekly topics with everyone else, just visit the main page of my blog every Tuesday! You’ll see my TTT for the week there, and there’s.a linky at the bottom of each post where you can paste yours so it appears in the list of participants. :)

    • Jana

Hi! Every Tuesday, my TTT will be the top blog post here. Just click the “Home” button at the top of my blog in the blue menu bar. You’ll see this week’s topic right there. Scroll to the bottom of that blog post and you’ll see a list of everyone who has linked up. You link up your post right there. :)

  19. Honey

Is this something I can join to receive your posts or notifications about posts? I just discovered this site while looking for books that make smile

  20. Hi, I just started my own blog a few months back and would love to join in on doing this! Do you have a hashtag on Twitter or any way people can find one another when they join in?

    • Jana

No, a new plugin made everything go crazy apparently! Thank you for letting me know this happened! I hadn’t noticed. I just fixed everything, so you should be good now. :)

  21. I have a question about August 3rd, I just did a post about books I bought because of the covers and I was wondering if when that comes up could I post my link to that post? Or does it have to have been posted on the 3rd? Hope I have made sense. Thanks

  22. Mru

This is an amazing way of interacting and reading with fellow bloggers, I will definitely try to post for the April prompts. They sound fun.

  23. Hello, would it be ok if I start participating in this on my blog? I’ll link back to your site and credit you, I just wanted to check if it was ok first.

    • Jana

Hi, Hannah! Yes, of course I’d love for you to participate with me! This post actually encourages it, and provides all information for how to do so (namely linking back to me, which you’re already planning to do–thank you!). I attach a link-up tool to my post each week so you can submit your blog to the participants list as well. It might help you get more visitors! Hope you have fun!

  24. Hi! it’s been a while since I’ve done a TTT and I’m looking to get back into this again and I knew this is something I wanted to get back to. Looking forward to post my first TTT in a long while.

Thank you for keeping this going!

  25. Awesome! I had a going on Top Ten Thursday but maybe I’ll just join on Top Ten Tuesday instead – or doing both, if I’m with enough energy. I love doing such posts just because they give a reason to talk to the audience <3

    • Jana

I don’t, unfortunately. I wish I had a newsletter or something, but I have enough followers that it would be pretty pricey to have an email platform to do it! I recommend you bookmark this page and maybe set a reminder to check periodically. I update the future topics regularly, and try to keep the topics planned three months out. :)

  26. Hi Jana, so pleased to meet you. I cam here through lovely Paula blogging at Book Jotter. I’m a Romanian writer living in South Africa. I am looking forward to this week’s Doorstoppers Top Ten :) Thank you for hosting.

    • Jana

Nice to meet you, Patricia! I’m so happy you’ve found TTT and are planning to participate this week! I’ll keep an eye out for your list. I hope you’ll come back and add it to the link-up!

    • Jana

I use a subscription service that allows me to generate link-up widgets so people can submit their links to my blog posts. If you look at my most recent TTT post, you can see the list of links at the bottom with boxes to submit your own link information. That whole section is the linky widget. “Linky” is short for “linky party”, which is essentially a list of links to blog posts that are all participating in the same thing (a meme, giveaway chain, etc.). Linky parties were extremely popular 10-15 years ago at the height of blogging and are less-so now that more people are using Insta, TikTok, YouTube, etc. I don’t see them much anymore, but the widgets still work for my purposes with TTT!

  27. Proof that lists + books + people is a formula that somehow never gets old. I always enjoy seeing how the same prompt turns into completely different lists, detours, and mild confessions. Half the fun is noticing the overlaps, the oddballs, and the “oh yeah, that one” moments.

  28. One of my ideas got selected to be a topic! I should definitely make sure I participate in that one, I guess. ;)

Thanks for hosting Top Ten Tuesday!

    • Jana

Yes! Thank you for submitting such a fun topic! After doing this for so many years, my creative juices need help sometimes so I always appreciate when someone submits a suggestion for a topic!
